03 kia Sedona ex getting no dtc codes only obd2 cat eva 025 htr, picks up speed slowly, drops on load, try to accelerate get high rpm and no thrust, not sure what the problem is, thanks for reply.

Ok went in front of converter, not the ones on the bank 1 and 2, the 1 before muffler, cut 2 small saw zaw blade slices, drove vehichle, noticed speed pick up, and more thrust, so it was my converter, not all the way clogged, thats why i had some thrust at tail pipe, if your not getting bank codes, chances are its the converter before muffler, hope this helps some other poor kia owner. Sounds like a bad catalytic converter. See if you have exhaust flow at exhaust tailpipe.

    You have a stopped up Trans filter. No pump pressure at the cutch packs. Check the dip stick (red one) see if low or burnt smell. This filter should be changed every 60,000 miles

03 kia sedona ex was getting tps code, replaced that with 1 from auto store, although the guy put it on, and messed with idleing it down, van will slowly pick up speed downhill, lose speed up hill


The age of your kia warrants scan of the OBDII Fault codes with a print out (Autozone can do it). The TPS Should not effect engine speed Creeping up or down. Check the codes first to avoid buying parts you don't need. Also don't throw those coils away, the are probably OK. Check out some of my other post concerning drivability problems . Always start with cheapest fixes first.

My 2003 kia sedona won't pass emissions the codes are p0320 p0431. Help please


code p 0320 refers to crankshaft position(CKP) sensor /engine speed ( RPM) sensor ---circuit malfunction===causes --wiring---CKP/RPM sensor---ECM
code p 04310 refers to warm up catalytic converter, bank 2--efficiency below threshold===causes ---cat converter---wiring---HO2S 2
As it is not passing the smog test I would be replacing the HO2S sensor ( manifold or before the cat on bank 2 of the engine ) or more likely a failed cat converter
you may have had the P 0320 code for a long time and have not noticed a drop in performance but as cat converters have a lot to do with smog control , that is the area I would advise checking first

2003 Kia Sedona rpm running high on a cold start.


If it is around 1200rpm for a few minutes this will be normal as the ECM has set the RPM to compensate for the cold air intake (much like an automatic choke). After a few minutes it should drop back to around 1000rpm and then when the motor has been running a bit drop back to around 850-900rpm. If it not following the pattern then run the fault codes and fix the sensor that is reading incorrectly.

have the fault codes read. look for a fault in the accelerator position sensor-mass air flow sensor or blocked cat converter in the exhaust.

Kia sedona 2003,shut off when i put defrost.the idel is araun 400 rpm.do i have to increas the rpm to 850 rpm?

'03 Kia Sedona EX - ONLY Error Code - Clogged Catalytic Converter - Causing hesitation and 3 mpg reduction in gas mileage. Van in very good condition, 78,000 miles, 1 yr of 500 Miles/wk of Commuting...


Most "common" cause is and engine misfire that causes unburned fuel to enter the converter and overheat/melt the catalyst. The converter is covered by 8yr/80,000 mile warranty for defects, and may be covered thru Kia. On a positive note we have a 2005 sedona shuttle van a work with 250,000 miles on it and qoing strong.
