Sounds like the transmission fluid temperature is high. Check for blockages of the fins on the oil cooler if there is an external one. The oil cooler inside the radiator won't cool properly if the coolant level is low or the radiator fans are not running at full speed.

Good day Mr Lawrence. I have the vehicle checked. It does not have external transmission cooler, the radiator does the cooling. But, the engine temperature is usually below half on the indicator. My mechanic advised that I change the transmission, but am convinced that the trouble can be redeem if we have the right diagnose. Do i go ahead and clean the radiator or replace it? i will appreciate your advise.

My Honda CRV shift to all gears, once i slow down and gears shifts out of 4th, it only shift up to max 3rd. I will need to park and off and restart the car to get up to 4th gear.

The shift solenoid pairs, usually 2 pairs, are very sensitive and get sticky with age. take them off and clean them and test them with a good 12v battery. The plunger should move an 1/8th inch with a good snap. If one is stuck whack it face down on a clean piece of paper, blow it out with a compressor and try again. Solenoids can cause starting out in the wrong gear, missing gears, creep in neutral, bad downshifting, shudder, etc... Lower front solenoids are under a metal cap with 3 10mm bolts. Passengers side.

Why does s3 and s4 on integra start flashing

I found this one the www.hondacarforum.com
http://www.hondacarforum.com/honda-technical/28562-i-have-1989-honda-integra-can-any-one-tell-me-what-s4-gear-stick.html

You have a couple of choices on this Honda transmission... D and S modes. Consider the D as the normal Drive mode and the S for Sport mode. The difference between the two is that in "D", the transmission will shift through the gears all the way to 4th gear and at lower rpm shift points. In "S", the transmission will shift at higher rpm levels and will go no higher than 3rd gear and light S3 on the dash. Once the vehicle is in 3rd gear (S3) you can then press the S4 button and the transmission will go into 4th gear (when conditions dictate). I believe there is even an S4 indicator on the dash signifying the trans is in 4th gear

The last line looks like it is the key here though.

If the car thinks its in 4th gear when you are trying to start it, obviously it wouldn't start...you could probably hunt around and see if there is a sensor on the transmission stick that runs the "D" vs "S" mode

Why is hwy gas mileage worse for a manual transmsion compared to automatic? 2004 crv

It should be the opposite. It may be that you are reving your engine higher than is needed before you shift. Also when slowing down at a stop light use neutral & take your foot off the gas then when restarting up if still coasting select the highest gear you can & accelerate moderately & change up asap. The sooner your in the highest gear possible the better the gas mileage. Happy motoring & I hope you save oddles of money following these tips. Good luck!
