It sounds like a linkage rod from the actuator to the actual locking mechanism may have come loose. The repair will require removing the door panel, raising the window and look for a rod that is just hanging down. A replacement clip should not cost more than a few dollars, and the repair itself should only take a few minutes. Removing the door panel is the hardest part. If you take the panel off and drive to someplace like Autozone they may have the part and give advice on the repair as well.
