Question about Cars & Trucks

EZGO Electric. Motor runs but will not go in forward or reverse.

Can hear motor spinning. Past several times driving there was a "pop" when put in reverse, but it worked fine. Then suddenly would not go reverse or forward?

It sounds like you may have a sheared keyway or pin on the input shaft to the differential. It is highly unlikely that all of the teeth could be stripped from the pinion gear. If you pull the motor loose the problem should be very easy to find.

The car has an automatic transmission and all of a sudden i had no reverse had no slipping or nothing the drive gears work fine no slipping grinding nothing shifts through all gears just fine

It may just need servicing/adjusting.

Your reverse gear is actually first gear ... when you select reverse another 'cog' fits into the toothed wheels to change the direction of first gear ... to give you reverse...

It may be a sticky valve or just a bit of adjustment (workshop job..) that is required.

What you can try ..

Start the car ... move the lever through all the positions several times (foot on brake..). Keep your foot on the brake and then put it in reverse and rev the car. Hard!

Try doing it several times.

An auto transmission works on valves opening and closing. Reverse gear - in comparison with the forward gears - is seldom used. The reverse valve can 'stick'. Try forcing it to open ... frighten it ... but keep your foot on the brake...

Why would my truck stop on its own, it sounded like a tire popped and then skidded to a stop?

Likely the parking brake shoes fell off the backing. Remove rear rotors to check.

I have a 1999 chevy malibu and it jumps when i put it in gear but then some times it acts normal for a few days then starts jumping again when i put it in drive some times.

Check the engine mounts with the hood open. Have an assistant observe from the side if any of them are loose when putting the engine in R or D with the parking brake and hydraulic brakes on securely. If the engine mounts are good, they will not allow the motor to twist inside of the engine compartment very much, not more than an inch or two, and good engine mounts will not allow any clunking to occur when putting the car into 'gear.'

When I put my 95 windstar into drive or reverse I get a wheel hop and thump sound. Drives fine other than that. do you think its ball joint, motor or trans mount?

well without hearing it, i would think its a cv-shaft that has too much play banging around the same time, it also sounds like it could something internal in the trans spinning too far before engaging....mounts usually makes noise under load..just after you put it in gear, and step on the accelerator pedal, you will then hear a clunk..not as soon as you put it in gear, unless extremely bad.

1999 Accord Automatic Transmission issue

im so sorry to say that Honda has a bad transmission line in the 98-02 accord models.. there were severe recalls on this very matter..I only got rid of my 99 accord V6 because the shop who changed my motor mounts crushed my transmission line and blamed it on me..if you had motor mounts or timing done or serpentine belt(i forgot if it has both or just 1),then check to see if transmission line is crushed it can be seen right underneath the battery..
