You were not very specific about your vehicle, but normal operating coolant temp. should be between 160 and 180 degrees farenheight. Running cooler will result in fuel mapping staying in open loop mode in the ECU causing a rich fuel delivery and poor fuel economy. Change the thermostat and possibly The coolant temp sensor. Do a OBDII test often (every 30,000 miles) and delete any stored faults. You will be able to scan for the most current problems and avoid buying parts you don't need. A Chilton manual will have a legend for any codes you find during a scan of the OBDII

No, it probably won't ... unless North Korea starts a nuclear war, in which case we could ALL MELT (or burn up)!

If you are using the dash board gauge, try another way to measure the temp. Those gauges are not accurate, it might be the sensor too.

96 chevy c1500. Temp does not get above 100 in the morning for 12 miles or so. Then in the afternoon in comes up. WHY

My first guess would be a faulty thermostat assuming the cooling system is full of fluid.

My ac or heater wont turn on on my 2005 f 150

Check all fuses, check if the resistor is operating, and as well if the outside and inside temp sensor is working properly as the AC is partly controlled by them too.

it could be the maf sensor, the coolant temp sensor or the throttle body.you will need to have a suitable diagnostic machine connected to read what trouble codes are in the ecu.

97 f-150 wont start sometimes when hot

Check for spark. Also listen for the fuel pump to kick on or spray starting fluid in the throttle body to see if it starts. If the fuel pump isn't kicking on then its your fuel pump and its located in the tank

1988 f 150 idle problem

check the temp control switch behind the thermostat, but more than likely is an air leak in the plenum gasket on the intake where the plenum connects onto the intake, this is a common problem , when the gasket gets a leak the air fuel mixture is messed up and the computer will try to compensate for the lean mixture and add fuel therefore increasing rpms.
