First, remove the wires from the top of each spark plug, Then turn each plug counterclockwise until they are completely unscrewed. Then screw in new ones in place of the old ones, then torque them, one at a time, to the specification indicated by the manufacturer, then put each plug wire back on, in their original positions. Then you are finished!

My engine light is on on my saturn astra 2008 and when i pass 40 mph it starts flashing, i went to autozone to check it out ,the scanner said random misfire, i bought spark plugs and put them in but i...

random missfires can be caused by several things.yes plugs is usually the first thing people think is the cause, however, bad or dirty injectors, sticking valves, poor fuel pressure, dirty fuel filter and several other things.since you have replaced plugs,i am assuming you gapped the plugs to specs,i would check fuel pressure and if you have not changed the fuel filter for a while i would change it.since its a saturn they are known for the valve system getting dirty and causing the valves to stick in the guides.have the fuel induction system cleaned as this will usually clean the valve system and stop the valves from sticking.have this done at a shop that can perform this type of work as the chemical that you buy at a parts store is not the same.just somethings to check out.

How to change spark plugs

The spark plugs are located under the four spark plug wires that go through the middle of the valve cover on top of the engine. With a twisting motion, remove the plug wires from the spark plugs. Then using a 5/8 inch spark plug socket and inch extension on a 3/8 inch ratchet, remove the spark plugs. Gap the new plugs to the correct gap (located on the label on the underside of the hood), and in stall into the holes in the valve cover using only your hand to get them started, then tightening with the ratchet. Then reinstall the wires back to their original locations, and you are finished.....

I changed the plugs and wires on my 3.8, Doublechecked everything, idles smooth but no power. Was driveable before spark plug change but not after. Firing order verified. I cannot see anything I knocked...

if the problem arose after you changed plugs and wires, and you checked firing order, i would say possibly plugs not gapped correct. there should be a placard under the hood that says the correct gap. if not, stop by auto parts store and ask them for the correct gap size. if the gap is just a little too big or small it may idle fine but not accelerate properly. i had a similar problem in a 92 saturn i used to have.
