Not sure about the pvc line and not even sure about the pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) line on your car but generally there is a connection made at the top of the engine, usually at a cam cover. Often there are two - a large half inch or five eighths inch spigot intended to be connected to the air cleaner housing or intake trunking and a second spigot of around three-eigths inch connecting via a restrictor to usually near the middle of the intake manifold. The restrictor is often just a small drilling in the manifold of about 5/64 inch that usually needs cleaning during maintenance.

1999 dodge durango runs ruff when colg

do the following procedure.

To correct this problem I want you to get a can of intake cleaner (ABOUT $5.00) from any local auto parts store like NAPA or Carquest, do not use carburetor spray, intake cleaner only or u will damage the Teflon coating inside the throttle valve and air bypass valve, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Hi, my 04 sorento spraying oil from oil level meter pipe then engine is hot, did this is normal, thanks

No, it's not normal. You are getting a high internal engine pressure from a bad valve guild or piston rings. The other thing that would cause this would be a bad PVC valve that is clogged up.

Start with the simple and replace the PVC valve and make sure the vacuum line is not kinked which would cause a restriction. Also make sure you have the right amount of engine oil in your engine.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

My 04 Kia Optima will start but then it runs rough. It acts like I might have trash or water in my fuel line. Does anyone know where the fuel line filter is located, also could this be a problem with fuel...

Put a can of a product called "Seafoam" in the gas tank. Also do the following procedure.

Here are some of the causes of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

2001 navigator jerked and cut outon me while sitting at a light. what could this be?

On the back part of the intake opposite of the throttle body is the hose for the PVC system. The part of the hose at the back of the intake most likely has a small crack in it. It's made out of thin rubber and is about 1/2" in diameter. Call your local Ford/Mercury dealer and order another one and install it. There are 2 different types available, a heated PVC valve assembly which has 2 small (1/4") water lines and one that doesn't have the water lines, the non-heated PVC valve. Either one, the dealer should have it in stock because this is a common problem with the Navigator.

Egr valve dodge durango

if this is a 4.7l engine, the valve is on the left rear of the intake. loosen the 8mm bolts that hold the egr intake tube to the egr valve, remove the egr bolts, disconnect wiring, remove valve and tube together, attach intake tube loosely to new valve, install new valve, tighten tube bolts to egr using a swivel socket, this is not a 5 minute job, so dont attempt unless you have some time and patience.

Pvc valve

it is small and threads into the lower intake near the front valve cover.
if your looking at the front valve cover from in front of the vehicle you should see a small hose that goes from the right side of the cover to the lower intake. the part the hose hooks to also screws into the intake. that is your pcv valve6bf35a5.gif
