Full brake air pressure on Daf CF but gauges read zero, buzzer remains 'on'and dash reads 'low brake air pressure' and ABS fault.-- fitted sensor unit at air dryer but no change. Help would be great

check the air pressure switch at the tank supply line at the foot ( treadle ) valve if that switch is not operational then it may be where the system is not getting a full pressure report
you should have a pressure reading on the air gauges in the dash as they read from the air tanks
remove the compressor line to the tank and check for air flow from the compressor when running as some european built trucks have the steel line as n air cooling line and they tend to carbon up internally and block air flow( scania in particular uses a pipe shaped as a coil that was very bad in design

My scania is showing gearbox malfunction on dash.what could be the problem?

Hi there I dont know to much about your type of g/box is it semi auto or a 16 /18/ speed sincro box as most times its the splitter and main cause is water in air lines.

1994 Scania 143 loss of power

check and adjust the injection timing of the pump and set it to spot on as any degrees retarded will affect performance. Check that there is no boost pressure from the turbo being lost from loose hoses and cracked tubes and intercooler. If you engine has a air compressor with a coiled steel line attached to it before the line is connected to a rubber hose to the tank Then replace the coil as it blocks up with carbon and puts the air compressor under constant load. Check for worn brake pivots as dragging brakes use up HP Finally have the truck chassis dyno tested to check for full pump operation as I had experience where the pump was fully rebuilt but the cam bearings in the pump were not replace and the pump was way off setting. ON a chassis dyno tested in direct gear the reading should ne around 410 hp at the rear wheels depending on the tread of the tyres. The test will show at what rpm\'s the governor in the pump is not performing as the power curve will not follow the set line.

I need to replace the brake pads on a friend's mercury sable gs (2000) but he doesn't have a Haynes or Chiltons for it. It's been a while since I've done a brake job and am curious if there...

There is no need to bleed the brakes unless you get air in them. Just removing the pads and pressing the cylinder back in won't let air in. If you are doing rear disc brakes the cylinder on those has to be screwed back in. I've been able to do it in the past by using a pair of pliers to rotate the cylinder but they do make a special tool you can pick up at a part store for this purpose.

Is it true that a damaged knock sensor can slow down or make the car lose power while going uphill? Toyota Corolla VE 98

Yes it can. The knock sensor retards the timing due to irregular levels of octane in todays gasoline, to eliminate or reduce what is called a spark knock. A malfunction could cause your car to lose power when car is under a load or uphill due to pre detonation or constantly retarded spark to the engine. If not replaced it can cause engine damage or head gasket damage. Hope this helps.

Air conditioning doesn't work have had freon added and still no help. 1999 oldsmobile bravada

Hi,
If your air conditioning isn't working, and you've had the fluid topped off, it usually points to a bad compressor. You'll have to buy a new one and replace your existing one. If you do go this route, contact me and I can try to guide you on how to do it.
Hope this helps. If it does, please accept and rate the solution! You can leave a testimonial or contact me with any more questions you may have. Thanks for using FixYa!
