Hey Matt, by surging, do you mean cutting in and out..and maybe not blowing COLD air..?? If this describes what you are experiencing... try this.

2003 ford taurus makes noise when heater or ac is on and surges only when they are on

If the engine RPM is surging with the A/C on, the A/C system may be overcharged, or have too much oil in the system. DON'T run it, or you may blow out your A/C compressor!

My 2000 Ram 2500 AC blows cold until I step on the breaks. As soon as I break it starts blowing real hot. Starts cold again after I turn it off and turn it back on. Break again, it blows hot again...

check for a fault in the climate control module that is affected by a power surge/ depletion from the brake circuit. It would appear that the ac compressor is being switched off by the fault and switches on again when you recycle the switch( could be a relay to the ac compressor.)

Replaced ac compressor now car surges when in gear runs fine in neutral

AC compressor kicks in and draws power away from the motor, common sense. Its a compressor issue.

2004 KIA Optima, had A/C service now engine seems to been surging and fan go on and off. Can A/C be overfilled with R134?

Yes, the surging is caused by the ac compressor is turn on and turn off. I don't think the ac unit is overfilled but I'm fairly sure it the AC compressor relay or the sensor that run the AC relay is bad.

94 camry 4c- ac just stopped working- checked refrig level-ok, checked fuses-ok, replaced blower motor- it blew just on fan- everything stopped when I turned the ac on. I heard a squeak from the belt and...

Spin center of compressor by hand if ok, check single wire to compressor for 12 volts with ac on, if no voltage is present double check your refrigeration refrigeration pressures, you may have overcharged or overcharged the system either way the low or high pressure switches could be bad or indicating a problem with the charge

How tough is it to replace aircondition compressor?

you need to remove the coolant surge tank, intake tube and box, move the ECU out of the way, remove the headlights for access to the radiator bolts, remove the radiator fan and the radiator, remove the serpentine belt and passenger side wheel and splash shield-remove the front air dam, then unbolt the low and high pressure hoses from the ac compressor, then remove the compressor-it is easily a 3 hour job taking it out and putting it back in.

I just had to have the A/C compressor replaced and now the engine seems to surge at hiway speeds. More so when cruise control is engaged. Is there any connection to the replacement and the engine problem?...

There is no points on this model, but if you are running the ac on low fan speed,it will cycle on,and off to keep it from freezing up,or the ac has a restriction in the orifice tube, and is making the ac compressor cycle on,and off,or there is not enough freon in the system, and this also, will cause the compressor to cycle on,and off,try freon maybe. If this was helpful, please rate, thank you.

2004 trailblazer truck surges and shuts off when AC is turned on. This is not an compressor or freon problem because with foot on padel ac system works and cools very well.

It's your automatic A/C Clutch bearing. The computer tells the clutch to engage and it connects to the compressor but the bearing is shot and attempts to seize thus slowing the motor. I would not run the A/C until the unit is repaired.

Engine/transmission surges

It might be just the fan kicking in or the AC compressor just keeping charge
