Up under the truck by the drivers side seat area will see a 1 into 2 cable with adjustments loosen the connection and that will slacken the ebrake cable so you can remove the connection

I was checking back brakes, emergency brakes. The axel on the passenger rear is welded to drum. Why wouldyou do that. Cannnot put check back brakes or install new emergency brakes on back passenger side....

They wouldn't and couldn't, or the rear drum would not turn and the car would not move. You need a special fork tool to go behind the drum and adjust the star fitting in order to release the drum and then you will be able to check the linings and cable.

Check the ground on the passenger side rear lights, it's likely bad. As for the hazards, sounds like a bad flasher or fuse.

Emergency break cable broke on 2004 silverado

I had the same problem on my 2003. Open the driver door all the way. Get on your knees just outside the door. Follow the plastic tub that holds the parking brake release cable inside the truck. Start from the release lever and follow to the end of the tube. There will be a metal lever that the cable was attached to before it broke. You have to pull that lever with your hand to release the parking brake. Very Important!!!...Hold the parking brake activation pedal with your other hand when you release the brake. Let the pedal out slowly when you pull the metal release lever. The pedal will come back very fast and you could injure yourself if you are not careful. Good luck!

Hi. trying to change pads on rear brakes for 1993 eclipse. on the passenger side, it appears that the cable for the emergency brake needs to be disengaged before doing so. can you tell me how to do this? i...

i did find a way to make this work. there is a bolt underneath the assembly that connects to the end of the e-brake cable. if you remove that bolt you can detach the cable by turning it 90 degrees and sliding it out of the assembly. this allows you to rotate the calipers and access the brake pads.
