In the fuse box under the hood. Take the lid off and flip it over. You should see a diagram of what relay does what. Some vehicles will have numbers only in which case you will need the owners manual that came with the car.

Why wont my 95 thunderbird stay running after five mins

I would look towards the ignition module. It is what fires the injectors, you can have spark but a no run situation because of no fuel injectors.

1987 volvo 760 turbo 2.3 fuel injectors not working when srarting?

The fuel injector on your vehicle not starting, When you turn the key on with the ignition on one side of the injector is ignition(+) the other side is controled by the ECM by grounding it.You vehicle is know as LH fuel system so start as the MAF (known as a mass air meter) you also have a thermo time switch. There is also a relay that controls the operating of the injector this is the suppression relay disconnect and reconnect this relay see if this will help you2_26_2012_7_32_53_pm.gif

What is ASD RELAY

The power supplied to the fuel pump, ignition coil, fuel injectors, and parts of the power module is controlled by the logic module through the Automatic Shutdown Relay (ASD); the idea is to shut off fuel pressure and the ignition systems when the key is turned off to prevent fires, dieseling, and other problems.

The ASD relay is closed (allowing power to flow through it) when the ignition is first turned on. If the signal from the ignition reference is lost while the engine is running, or if the turbo boost pressure reaches and exceeds the over boost cut-off point, the logic module cuts power to the ASD, which in turn removes power from the fuel pump, ignition coil, injectors and those parts of the power module. This causes the engine to shut down.

Failure of the automatic shutdown relay is often shown as inexplicable stalling or refusal to start.

1997 dodge ram won't start. My fuel pump does not run and coil won't spark. Iv'e checked fuses and relays and they look fine. Could a bad fuel pump cause the asd to kill power to the coil?

First check any ignition/fuel related fuses. Check to make sure you have 12 volts coming into the pump and coil. If nothing to the fuel pump replace the fuel pump relay - if you do have power to the fuel pump then replace the pump. If nothing is coming to the coil it is either an ignition relay or a wiring issue. If you have 12 volts to the coil but no spark then replace the coil.
Also the fuel pump/relay would not kill the coil.

I have a 93 Chevy G20 VAN G20 with a 4.3L engine that has TBI my van starts and runs for a few days. Then it will not start after sitting for a day or two it starts again and runs fine. What could be the...

There are three relays all grouped together on the firewall on the passengers side. All three are related to your situated. We can eliminate one of them because you stated that the fuel pump is operating fine. Now that leaves the relay for the ECM(engine control module) this tells the injectors, cold start and run, when and how much fuel to supply and also controls ignition timing and spark advance. The third controls the AC compressor. Now I've got to remind you that I started working on fuel injection systems the day they started failing here in the US around 1972.These were such vehicles as Mercedes, Saab and Volvo. I've worked on every configuration, TBI, MPI, diesel etc.etc. I may on occasion cross one fact with another or mispronounce certain aspect of a system however, These three injectors are where you want to concentrate your efforts. With some finnesse you can swap the harnesses from one to another. If your car runs fine and your AC suddenly does not, then you know that that relay is faulty. Do this until you get your answer. Best of luck my friend, Dana
