I need to find the main and rod factory specs for a GM Crankshaft casting number 6223. Where would I look?


you would have to get the foundry bill of material for that crankshaft
finding the casting foundry will be a job in itself
however crank shafts are cast to a engineering standard (throw distance) and are then ground to a standard size on the big ends and main journals
what ever con rods that are used depends on the block that the crank shaft is installed in as different piston diameters require different strength conrods
the casting number is just a batch number so it may prove a dead end if you are relying on it to get information
where I would start looking is at a engineering shop that regrinds crank shafts as they may have original specs for gm cranks and that number just may indicate what block it was made for and then you may get a heading as to where to look

I have a mitsubishi l300 with a 4G64 engine I have just replaced main bearings it ran ok but now it's blowing smoke. Compression is ok but all the plugs are dry black as if it's getting too much fuel

you have to run it in and wait and see
you may burn up a set of plugs

renew main bearings only raise the conrods and pistons
so piston and rings will run in a different position up the cylinder wall

only doing mains and not conrods and re-ring is a strange thing to do

Google it, but best to google by engine supplied in your vehicle rather than by brand: (engine) connecting rod torque

as engine spec. vary by that.
Africa, not same as Australia. (etc)

These specs are for stock-type bolts with light engine oil applied to the threads and the underside of the bolt head. Moly and other lubes offer reduced friction and increased bolt tension, which will affect the torque figure.
