You have a bad battery or bad connections to your battery. Try to charge the battery first. If the problem still occurs then replace the battery. It should be ok after this. good luck.
Have batery tested and starter
Check the battery, Because the battery requires a lot of power to drive the starting motor, might be the batter is not good enough to drive the self motor.

Tested battery; all good, tested the starter at Advance auto - starter was good, needed to replace solenoid. That's done; still can't start it on its own. Did get a battery with higher cranking amps, didn't help, although it is an older battery.
