SOURCE: Wiper linkage broken

i had this problem for my 1997 HONDA ACCORD

to do this turn on the windshiled wipers. if you hear the motor, it is fine.

you cannot buy the plastic part which is called the bushing. technically it is called the wiper linkage bushing. (well you can buy the bushing, but usually from a place like autozone and they dont sell it for our car. ) so you have to buy the part from honda, and you have to buy the whole arm, called the wiper linkage. (you have two of them, an A and a B. A is on top, B is on the bottom)

that is the plastic part over the motor and the wiper linkages

SET WIPER to ZERO to make sure it wipes the way it needs to.

hope this helps. BUT if it doesn't HONDA can put it on fro about 45 minutes if you take down everything, and all they have to do is put on the arm and put back on the wipers!

Need to fix door on expedition liftgate won't open

In this case it is usually necessary to remove the interior panels of the liftgate to gain access to the linkage inside. The only problem is: removal of those panels is much more difficult with the liftgate closed. Take to a professional, or risk breaking the attachment points of your panels, and associated fasteners. I usually charge around 50 to 100 dollars to get these open, then an additional charge for further work to repair the lock, latch, or linkage.

Rear liftglass won't lock

Subject: Rear Liftgate Glass May Not Lock When Using Remote Keyless Entry (RKE), Key Fob Transmitter or Door Lock Switch, And/Or Liftgate Hatch Or Liftgate Glass May Lock Then Unlock When Rear Liftgate Glass Button is Depressed (Reposition Lock Cylinder Wave Washer and Adjust Lock Rod)

Models: 2005-2007 Buick Rainier

2005-2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, TrailBlazer EXT, TrailBlazer SS

2005-2008 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL, Envoy Denali

2005-2008 Saab 9-7X

Do This
Don't Do This

Reposition liftgate lock cylinder wave washer and adjust lock rod.
DO NOT replace the liftgate latch or actuator.

Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions:

• The rear liftgate glass may not lock when using the remote keyless entry (RKE), key fob transmitter or door lock switch unless the lock is pressed a second time.

• The rear liftgate or glass locks, but may be unlocked when the rear liftgate lock cylinder button is depressed.

• The rear liftgate locks but the liftgate glass may not lock.

These conditions may be caused by one or all of the following:

• The rear liftgate cylinder lock rod may be out of adjustment.

• The wave washer on the liftgate lock cylinder may be out of position with the cup side down.

• Excessive movement or slack in the lock rods at the liftgate bell crank assembly.

• The liftgate lock cylinder pawl may contact the rear liftgate glass latch when the lock cylinder button is depressed.

Important: Do Not remove the rear liftgate lock cylinder from the vehicle to perform this repair.

Reposition the rear liftgate lock cylinder wave washer and adjust the lock rod using the steps below.

Verify the customer's condition.

Open the liftgate.

Remove the upper liftgate garnish molding.

Remove the rear liftgate trim panel.

Remove the cylinder lock rod from the threaded lock rod retaining clip.

Place the tip of a screwdriver blade into the opening of the C-clip and slowly rotate the screwdriver to pry out the C-clip from the shaft. Then use needle-nose pliers to remove the C-clip.

Remove the C-clip from the rear liftgate lock cylinder push button and remove the wave washer.

Install the wave washer with the cup side up.

Position the wave washer with the curved edges of the wave spring parallel to the tabs on the lock cylinder shaft.

Important: Use needle-nose pliers to slightly squeeze the C-clip back into shape. Make sure the clip seated, you should feel a snap and hear an audible click.

Install the C-clip onto the shaft and in the slot using needle nose pliers. Then rotate the pawl several times to make sure the C-clip does not rotate. If the clip rotates then the clip is not fully seated.

Position the lock cylinder pawl to the full clockwise position.

Pull up on the cylinder lock rod to remove any slack in the bell crank.

Install the cylinder lock rod into the threaded lock rod retaining clip while removing any slack from the lock rod linkage.

Close the lock rod retainer clip.

Close the liftgate assembly.

Open the liftgate glass while keeping the liftgate closed.

Use the key fob to cycle the liftgate to the lock and unlock position while inspecting the rear liftgate pawl. The lock cylinder pawl should have clearance between the latch as shown above. If the pawl is contacting the latch, readjust the cylinder lock rod.

Verify that the customer's condition has been corrected.

Install the rear liftgate trim panel.

Install the upper liftgate garnish molding.

Cannot open liftgate.manual says open liftgate to repair. How do I do that?

The plastic trim pops off at the top around the window. the bottm part will pop off enough to reach down and find the linkage to open the door. the linkage you want to find runs up and down. pull it up or push it down to open. there will be several rods to try. Once you get it open there are two screws on the bottom of the panel to remove it completely. then you can see and access the latch, handle, rods.

My 1994 nissan maxima has no problems.but all of a sudden i parked it and when i tried to put it in gear,it wont stays in park.and it wont move

Check your linkage under the car on drivers side. Right next to Transmisson the linkage that goes to your shifter should connect to the linkage coming out of the transmisson. If not, you have a broken linkage.

Lifegate wont open it wont unlock

there are a couple of things that could be going on here --- the latch could be broken(?), if the latch is broken then the inside panel will need to be removed and the latch will need to be operated manually to open the liftgate and then you will need to replace the latch. the next thing that could be going on is that the lock to latch linkage is disconnected or broken - like before, the panel will need to be removed to fix this problem (( NOTE: if the linkage is disconnected, there is a chance that you can fish with a tool to try and grab the linkage and get it to release,, your local locksmith shop should be able to open the latch in this way,, drive the vehicle to them and see if they can )).
the easiest problem to check and fix would be if the liftgate latch is bound up ( like something stuck between the door and the frame ) -- if this could be the problem, then just push in and down on the liftgate as you try and turn your key,, this might relieve any pressure and pop open the latch.
one other thing to check to see if the linkage is bad is to just turn the key in the lock and if you are able to turn VERY easy ( no felt resistance ) then the linkage is infact disconnected, and I would see the local locksmith shop to have them try and fish the latch to open, this will save time and money in the long run.
I hope this helps, if you have any other questions about this issue, please feel free to ask,

Liftgate ajar light on when liftgate is closed when driving interior light are on. I open and close liftgate, but no such luck liftgate ajar light on and all interior lights when driving

I recently had a similar problem with the "liftgate ajar" light lighting randomly on my 2001 PT Cruiser. It was even occurring AFTER I had disconnected the "ajar sensor" on the liftgate. Finally found that 5 wires were broken, one of them the liftgate ajar sensor wire, in the wire bundle that leaves the top of the liftgate and goes into the chassis. I suspect that those broken wires would randomly trigger. Inline spliced the wires and resealed the bundle. Everything looks good for now, although time will tell.

Can you open it with key ? If you can, my guess is that the linkages are rusted & corroded, and you need to remove the panel to properly lubricate & free all those up. Sometimes you'll hear the actuator click, but it's not unlocking anything because the linkages are seized. had to do mine for same reason.
