Is it rusted, or jammed? Was the vehicle in a collision or accident that could have bent or sprung the hatch or mating surfaces?

SOURCE: 1996 Chevy Astro van rear hatch release solenoid not responding.

you remove the handle in the center of the rear hatch. if you look closely you will see two small snap covers that hide two screws.once you do this you will see a small bar that is actuated by the solenoid from the switch. try the switch to see what way the smalll bar inside moves the use a screwdriver to complete the disconnection. hope this helps.

Hatchback window latch stuck on 2004 ford explorer limited

The hatch window is locked and unlocked by an electric motor on your remote. If your sure the button on the remote is working (make sure by trying another remote that's programmed for your vehicle) the problem lies in the motor or its fuse, most likely the motor or latch linkage is jammed. If you open the tailgate itself, you will need to remove the trim panel to access the glass hatch release from there. Remove the plug wires to the glass hatch and check for voltage when pressing the remote with a DC voltmeter. If no voltage and you're sure the remote is good, there is an open circuit or bad fuse. If there is voltage the motor is bad or jammed. Try these steps and let us know what happened.

Hatchback won't lock on saab 9-3

I had the very same problem with my 2002 Saab 9-3 after I manually moved the trunk latch to the locked position "out of curiosity..." Then I noticed there is a handle you can pull to release latch opening it up! Very simple remedy... It is a glow in the dark green plastic handle hanging down when the trunk/hatch is open dead center, just in slightly behind latch... Gently pull handle until you hear and see the latch click into the open position...Let me know how You make out. BTW: Toyota Camry has the same set up,same color as well...lol Good Luck!

The release handle for the hood is not opening the hood on our 1994 chevy astro van . Can we open it manually and then try to see if it became unattached?

you can open it by going either underneath the front of the car and reaching up to move the latch arm to unlock the hood or try going through the grill to move the latch arm to unlock the hood.then you can see if its unhooked or the cable is broken.you can temporarily fix it until it can be properly fixed by hooking up a cable to the latch arm and run it out the grill and fasten something to it so it won`t fall into an area you can`t reach it to unlock it from outside.

1996 astro stalling/stalls

Right turn signal - activate turn signal and check to see if bulb (front and rear) are flashing. If not it will affect the flashing timing. Replace bulb. As for stalling, may yet be sediment/gunk in tank that is clogging new fuel pump filter and inline filter. Or an idle/throttle position sensor. Hatch problem, I've no idea. Family members 1998 Grand Caravan has been infected with similar gremlins in the sliding doors. Best advice is to obtain a Chiltons/Haynes repair manual and go through the troubleshooting section.
