I am an apt maint man in carson city nv for 4 yrs. I live there too. Today i was fired and told i have 48 hrs to vacate apt. Need help of my rights and who can help me. Single dad with 2 boys
You can only be fired on the spot for what is called 'gross misconduct'. This is behavior is defined as 'doing something where your presence can no longer be tolerated on the premises'. This is in a normal, go to work and come home job. In your case, you live there are well. Normal grounds for gross misconduct, would be assaulting a fellow employee, or tenant, theft, that sort of thing.
When you took the job, there should have been written terms and conditions regarding your job and your provided accommodation. It should tell you how long you can remain after dismissal or you handing in your notice. It is not reasonable that they want you to leave in 48 hours. The building can evict you, but that takes time. With two children, they can't put you on the street.
My advice is to contact your local welfare housing office. They will know the law, and they will offer you priority temporary or permanent housing because of your 2 children.
Good luck, let me know how you get on by clicking COMMENT under my post.
Don't worry about this being in the wrong category. It happens all the time. I will delete your other posts for you.
