Question about 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 2006 jeep grand cherokee 4x4 5.7L HEMI. I took in the vehicle for the 30k service a few weeks ago (spent $1,000) dollars, and now i notice the following issues: when i start the vehicle, have the brake depressed, then shift into reverse and let off the brake, the car does not begin to roll without a good deal of extra pressure placed on the gas pedal. then, once i finish backing-up, i depress the brake, shift to into drive, and the car either dies (as the RPMs plummet) or, it pauses and you have to depress the gas pedal in excess to get the car to begin going forward.

It sounds like the technician ether unplugged or damaged your idle air speed sensor. I would return the cherokee and file a complaint. Armed with the knowledge of the possible problem you may come out of this with the job done correctly. Hope this helps. Good luck cj2176.

I would call the area zone manager.
If this dealership has been your only service utility I would ask the Service Manager if he could charge it out to another vehicle VIN number.
This may seem underhanded but I know it happens for good customers.

Had problem starting, engine stopped while driving

Have you ever cleaned the throttle valve and idle speed control valve? this is on the stall issue. the starter sounds like the contacts may be burnt in the starter solenoid, this is common on this type of Japanese starter at about this mileage, you can rebuild the starter solenoid or just replace it.
