SOURCE: front brake pads for 1997 ford ecscort encore

The binding of the brakes is causing the pads to overheat, which is causing the smoke. You need pull the wheel and check things out. Your caliper must be bad (not releasing). You need to replace the caliper, brake pads, and have the rotor cut (a full service parts store or shop cuts the rotor perfectly smooth on both sides), or replaced (it may be cheaper to just buy a new rotor). You should also always change the pads (and check everything else) on the opposite side. So, if u do the brakes on the driver side front, always do the front pass. side at the same time, likewise if u do rear brakes.
Whenever you do brakes u should also flush out the brake lines (by bleeding the brakes) until the brake fluid flows absolutely clear. Old brake fluid is the #1 reason for caliper failure. I've seen many times people replace brake components w/out changing the brake fluid, only to have the brakes wear out very quickly, or not function properly. good luck! hope this helps> please rate this!couontrycurt0

SOURCE: '92 Toyota Landcruiser 80 series- brake light came

You say the brakes work fine, so lets start with the e-brake switch, make sure swith is working and ebrake is all the way off, the next thing is the sensor in the mastercylinder, is the brake fluid low or is the sensor working, with this sensor and the ebrake sensor try unplugging and see if light goes out, start with these things first, also there are no brake fluid leaks on the ground, this would cause the poprotioning valve to turn the light on also, but lets start with the other things first. hope this helps.

My car is a toyota harrier 1997 model.my abs warning light comes on .why

Because there is a fault in the system and the electronically operated anti-lock braking system has been de-activated.
You will still have normal braking though. However, If you lock up the wheels under heavy braking there is no system in operation now that releases the brake pressure to permit the wheel or wheels to rotate and gain traction. It is all manual control, ie. you have to control any lock up you cause yourself with the braking pressure you apply.

The most likely cause of the ABS warning is a failed wheel speed sensor or sensors. The warning will remain until the cause is identified and fixed.

How do i get the front hub off of a 1997 toyota corolla to replace the bearing that the axel goes through.

most are the same--remove the wheel, brake caliber, brake rotor, unscrew the center nut, there can be three bolts from the back side to be removed, and unscrew the center nut from the axle, the hub will usually slip off but may require the use of a puller or a careful hammer blow the haynes repair manuel will help look under front axle replacement

Need to tighten emergency brake on 1997 toyota 4runner

if you need to tighten the cable under the vehicle you will find where the single cable from the front connects to the two rear to tighten set the emergency brake six to seven clicks and tighten nut until the brakes catch. if you need to adjust the actually brakes in the drum set the ebrake the same setting find the little rubber plug on the backing plate remove get a small flat head screw driver and flash light find the little gear inside use the screwdriver to turn will only go one way turn the gear until brakes grab and wheel can't be turned.

Only right hand side wheel spins when in 4WD on the front diff on my 1997 80 series landcruiser

i believe this is normal as when wheel leaves ground all power goes to the wheel that is not touching ground as when in 4wd not all four wheel turn unless you have frunt and rear air lockers if this is not the case then try 4wd hub probaly not locking in good luck
