Codes P0506 and P0011. Idles low and rough. What can I do?

P0011 A Camshaft Position - Timing Over - Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1) P0506 Idle Air Control System RPM Lower Than Expected A P0506 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:
  • A vacuum leak
  • An air restriction in the intake air path or exhuast
  • A faulty positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve
  • Damaged/failed/dirty throttle body
  • Internal engine problem
  • Failed PCM
  • check the PCV valve first , thats cheap , just shake it, you should hear the little ball rolling back and forth, if it is,, put it back, if not,, spray a little carb cleaner in it,, then put it back after the ball has loosened up , then start the car ,, spray a little carb cleaner around the vacuum lines of the motor, if the car rev's up all of a sudden, look for a bad vacuum hose in that area , check and clean the air filter, normally this code is thrown by a vehicle that has an electronic throttle control, ( no cable ) remove the air duct that goes into the throttle body , spray some cleaner in there,, ( with the motor off) wipe out any excess , and clean the flap that is inside that hole,, be careful not to spray too much on the tip of the sensor that in there,,, start the car again, if its better your home free, it may smoke a little to clear out the carb spray ,, so don't worry , if that doesn't fix your problem,, your going to have to replace the idle control sensor, lemme know how you make out

Steps on how to replace balljoint on 1994 f350

Not terribly difficult.
The ball joint side towards the steering knuckle is usually held on with one large tapered bolt, that after you take the nut off, has to be popped off with a "pickle fork".
You can get on for about $10, because it is just a large, 2 pronged chunk of steel.
The other side is usually held on with 3 small rivets, that you chisel or grind off and pop out.
The new ball joint will come with bolts instead.

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 with the 3.9 v/6 and standard transmission and it is under powered is there anything i can do

You can get a less restrictive exhaust system or cold air intake. Even a throttle body spacer. What i think may get you the power you are looking for may be a hand held tuner that plugs into the OBD II port and controls the computer. These mods will also help somewhat with your fuel economy. Maybe if you want to spend the money gears would be the ticket.

Restriction on steering wheel movement

Sounds like it might be a bad CV joint. There may be a groove in one of the joints ball races that only binds when torque is applied to the joint.I thought of a dry ball joint, but you said only when you are driving and a ball joint would do it all the time.

Getting the headlight assembly out

If your car is a 99 WJ the light assembly come out like this. Remove the long bolt located on top near the rear of the light assembly. This is the only thing you need to undo. Using a large flat blade screwdriver down the rear lever against the radiator cross member. The lamp is held in with a couple of ball-in-cup type of things that require a bit of effort to release. To refit, hold in place and give it a good firm shunt with the palm of your hand to refit the ball-in-cup do-dats. Refit long bolt.
