Nissan pumps are accessible from under the back seat . You may have to remove the back rest part. Couple of bolts and it's out. You'll see the cover to remove to get to the fuel sending unit.

possible couple of things
low battery voltage by the system not charging enough
overheating component in the ignition system--coil failing when hot
engine overheating- no air flow around head and cylinder fins from dirt and rubbish

what year ?
backfires from an EFI engine are not good signs (ussually means timming issue).
Carburated engines on the other hand are more likely to backfire when left sitting for long preiods.

Is this problem only on decel does it have a stable idle An egr that is not closing on decel could account for missing even stalling but the backfire indicates excessive fuel in the exhaust stream and egr gas is inert and is only used to dilute the fuel mixture to reduce combustion chamber temperature and control the formation of NOX gases
