Open Question

I am trying to lift out the injector pump after removing the 3 nuts, it lifts up about 6mm. But wont slide all the way out

This is on a Bomag BW90ADL Roller with a Deutz F1L210 engine.

SOURCE: Problems with Lift pump and

we have a 2005 dodge diesel, has been in the shop 3 times for the same problem.! lift pump.,failure, and fuel filter failure,
Does any one out there have any feed back,?? I filter all of my fuel after i buy it , before it goes in truck.... This is getting expensive,, HAS ANY BODY ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM???
Need a attorney and some advice..

When the key is turned to the start position, the pump should run for about 20 seconds. Do this 3 or 4 times to prime the pump.

If it still doesn't start, the bad lift pump may have damaged the injection pump. Crack a fuel line loose (don't remove it) and turn the engine over, you should have fuel at the fitting.

i have a nissan largo 96 2 lt diesel that keeps stalling when i put it in reverse and chucks black smoke out it also stalls at lights but always starts put a fault code reader on and it has come up with numbers 1-5 =lean mixture but its deisel ? 1-8 ant got a clue with that one , and code 21 does any one think it the ECU ?SOME ONE THINKS IT COULD BE injector pump ?my engine management light flashing now.thanks marg

SOURCE: remove front wiper arms. Lift arm, slide out

Just pry them off. Make sure the tab is out the whole way. Sometimes they can be tough to get off. Spray with wd40 it should aid in getting it loose. You could even tap it a few times with a rubber mallet or a light hammer, just be careful. Good luck if this helps let me know.

You need to ensure that here are no vacuum leaks in the line from the tank to the lift pump, the lift pump which looks very similar to a car petrol pump must be in good working order ie able to pump the minimum pressure and volume at cranking speed and idle speed.
If the lift pump is not working properly it will cause cavitation at the injector pump that will cause low pressure bubbles on the intake of the injector pump. If you have a good lift pump and there are no vacuum leaks between the tank and the lift pump then it may be down to bleeding the air out of the injector lines first at the pump, and then at the end of the injector lines (be very careful the diesel is at 170 to 175 times atmospheric pressure which is about 2500 pounds per square inch (which can penetrate skin deeply and even bone). Most of the Ford tractors use a rotary injection pump. Having only one cylinder not pressurizing is extremely unusual, try swapping the injectors between cylinders to see if it is a faulty injector, making sure to use new or at least anneal the old copper sealing washers and tension the injectors evenly with a tension wrench to correct torque. If the misfire then follows the injector it means your need the injectors servicing. New needles & nozzles for injectors is a lot cheaper than a new or rebuilt rotary injection pump. Please advise if it’s an inline pump. (which I doubt they were rare because they cost more).

How do I remove the starter motor from a 1993 Ford Fairlane?


  • Use a wrench to loosen the bolt and nut assembly that secures the negative battery cable to the battery, then lift the cable away from the battery.
  • 2 Apply the parking brake and raise the front of the car with a jack, then lower the vehicle onto two jack stands. Place one jack stand on each side of the front of the vehicle, under the frame.
  • 3 Access the starter from underneath the passenger's side of the Falcon. The starter is between the engine and the transmission and looks like a large coffee can.
  • 4 Remove the battery cable from the side of the starter. The cable slides over a threaded stud and is secured with a single nut. Remove the nut with a wrench, then lift the cable away from the starter.
  • 5 Remove the two flywheel-to-starter retaining bolts with a wrench, then pull the starter toward the front of the vehicle to remove it.
  • 6 Position the replacement starter against the flywheel housing, then install and tighten the two flywheel-to-starter retaining bolts with a wrench.
  • 7 Slide the battery cable onto the threaded stud on the side of the starter, then install and tighten the retaining nut with a wrench to secure the cable in place.
  • 8 Lift the vehicle with the floor jack, remove the jack stands, and lower the Falcon to the ground.
  • 9 Position the negative battery cable onto the battery terminal, then tighten the cable into place with a wrench.

    How do you change the fuel filter


    The fuel filter is located in the tank. Lift the rear seat,lift left side sound insulation,unclip and remove 3 fuel pipes,remove electrical connection,undo nuts holding fuel pump,lift out complete unit be carefull!!!,On the pump you will see a gold colored tin cup,remove and filter is inside

    1) lift the back seat bottom cushion up sharply at the 2 front corners , until the 2 clips come out of the body, then slide it forward and out of the car

    2) at the lower corner of the seat back remove the nuts securing the seat back tabs
    3) With the nuts removed pull the seat back forward enough for the tabs to clear the studs , then pull the seat back sharply up and towards the instrument panel to disengage the upper seat clips from the body
    4) remove seat

    Window Regulator and Regulator Motor
    REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
    (see Figures 1 and 2)
    1. Remove the door trim panel and inner panel water deflector.
    2. Raise the window to half-up position and hold in place by inserting a rubber wedge door stops at the front and rear of the window between window and inner panel.
    3. Remove the rear guide channel and inner panel cam channel.
    4. Punch out the center pins of the regulator rivets; then drill out the rivets using a 1 / 4 in. (6mm) bit.
    5. Move the regulator rearward and disconnect wire harness from the motor (if equipped). Disengage the roller on the regulator lift arm from glass sash channel.
    6. Remove the regulator through the rear access hole.

    CAUTION If electric motor removal from the regulator is required, the sector gear must be locked in position. The regulator lift arm is under tension from the counterbalance spring and could cause personal injury if the sector gear is not locked in position.
    1. Drill a hole through the regulator sector gear and backplate and install a bolt and nut to lock the sector gear in position.
    2. Using a 3 / 16 in. (5mm) bit, drill out the motor attaching rivets and remove the motor from the regulator.

    To install:

    1. To install the motor to the regulator. Use a rivet tool, J-29022 or equivalent, and install 3 / 16 in. (5mm) rivets or 3 / 16 in. (5mm) nuts and bolts. Remove the bolt and nut used to secure the sector gear in position.
    2. Place the regulator through the rear access hole into the door inner panel. If the electric regulator is being installed, engage the wire connector to motor prior to installing the regulator to the inner panel.
    3. Locate the lift arm roller into the glass sash channel.
    4. Using rivet tool J-29022 or equivalent, rivet the regulator to the inner panel of the door using 1 / 4 in. (6mm) 1 / 2 in. (13mm) aluminum peel type rivets (part No. 9436175 or equivalent). If the rivet tool is not available, use the following nut and bolt method:
      1. Install U-clips on the regulator at the attaching locations. Be sure to install the clips with clinch nuts on the outboard side of the regulator.
      2. Locate the regulator in the door inner panel. If the electric regulator is being installed, connect the wire connector to the regulator motor.
      3. Locate the lift arm roller in the glass sash channel.
      4. Align the regulator with clinch nuts to holes in the inner panel.
      5. Attach the regulator (and motor) to the door inner panel with 1 / 4 -20 x 1 / 2 in. screws (part No. 9419723 or equivalent) into 1 / 4 in. (6mm) nuts with integral washers. Tighten the screw to 90-125 inch lbs. (10-14 Nm) torque.
    5. Install the inner panel cam channel and rear guide channel.
    6. Remove the rubber wedge door stops at the front and rear of the window between window and inner panel.
    7. Install the inner panel water deflector and the door trim panel.

    1998 GMC diesel Pickup wont start, replaced fuel filter, and fuel injector. still wont start what do you think the problem could be??


    Using a test light, unplug the lift pump and jumper across the electrical terminals. Have someone turn on the key,you should have a light. No light means the oil pressure switch is a possible cause of the no start.
    At the oil pressure switch jump the orange wire to the gray wire with a fused wire. your test light at the lift pump should turn on with the key on. This proves the oil switch is a problem. Then plug in the lift pump connector, it should come on. If not the lift pump is bad.

    1. Lower the glass all the way. Remove the trim panel as described earlier.
    2. Gently pull the air and water shields off the door.
    3. Remove the 3 nuts that attach the glass to the regulator channel. Then, lower the glass all the way.
    4. Remove the outer glass-sealing weatherstrip by disengaging the spring clip tabs from the slots in the outer door panel. To do this, grasp the weatherstrip between the thumb and forefinger on either side of each spring clip. Pull out slightly and then up at each clip until the weatherstrip is free.
    5. Work the glass off the mounting studs and remove it through the slot in the top of the lower door.
    6. To remove the regulator, drive the center pin of each regulator mounting rivet out with a hammer and drift punch. Then, drill the rivets out with a 1⁄4 in. (6mm) drill.
    7. Disengage the regulator arm from the lift plate and then remove the regulator through the access hole in the inside of the door. To install:
    8. Load the new regulator in through the access hole and engage the access arm with the lift plate. Then, bolt the regulator to the door with 1⁄4 –20 nuts and short screws, making sure these screws will not interfere with regulator operation. Tighten the screws and nuts to 90–115 inch lbs. (10–13 Nm).
    9. Install the new glass by lowering it into the door. Position the glass on the mounting studs.
    10. Install the outer weatherstrip by sliding the clips into the door panel slots and sliding them downward until they lock.
    11. Raise the glass to the top of its travel, then loosely install the 3 retaining nuts. Seat the glass fully in the upper glass run to adjust it, and then tighten the mounting nuts gently.
    12. Install the air and water shields and the trim panel as described earlier in this section.

    alfred11s: No, you don't have to lift the motor. You do have to remove the right hand engine mounting insulator.
    I will give you the procedure for the removal to access the pump:.
    1.Drain engine coolant
    2. remove right hand engine mounting insulator
    3. Remove #2 and # 3 timing belt covers
    4. Remove front engine mounting insulator as follows
    a. remove hole cover
    b. remove the 2 bolts from the mounting
    c. remove the nut, the through-bolt and front engine mounting insulator
    5. Remove the electric cooling fan
    6.Disconnect engine wire remove the bolt and 2 nuts and disconnect the engine wire.
    Water pump removal instructions:
    1. Disconnect the crank sensor connector from the dipstick tube
    2, Remove the dipstick tube and dipstick (only 1 bolt holds it)
    3. Disconnect the water temp sensor from harness
    4, Remove the two nuts and the # 2 water inlet from the hose.
    5.Remove the three bolts which retain the water pump!
    CAUTION! try to keep antifreeze off the timing belt. Put rags down and pack them where the coolant would normally spill.

    99 ram diesel wont start


    Did you check to see if there is power to the glow plugs if not then that may be the problem and if there is power when you cycle the key not to start but for the plugs to warm up you may have a bad glow plugs.

    Truck wont start after draining fuel filter?


    You may have gotten air in the fuel lines. Diesels cant deal with this as well as gas engines should be a purge / bleeder valve on the fuel lines to eliminate the air. may cough and sputter for a while
