#1. Try a new battery first, or test your voltage to make sure the car is getting at least 13V at the battery connector.
#2. Make sure your battery cables / and connection is tight, and CLEAN.
#3. Check Relays for burnt relay if #1, and #2 are OK

Did you connect the Batteries you jumped with correctly? In Parallel you have 12 volts (correct) in Series you have 24 volts (incorrect). Check your main power fuse ( Big 60 amp or 40Amp) located in plastic box close to the battery on the inner fender well. Be careful jumping dead batteries! Explosion hazard exist, wear eye protection always.

Chevy Avalache 2007 blew a fuse while getting a jump, car won't start, rear windows and power locks don't work

You blew more than 1 .

The HUGE MAXI FUSE is probably burned... IF I remember correctly, it is a 80 or 100 Amp

Trying to figure out what is wrong with my my 2000 volvo s40 its wont start when i turn the key it just clicks is it the battery or could it be the starter

A weak battery will make the "clicking" sound you hear, also bad connections, loose battery cables or worn battery cables. Jump start the car to see if it cranks, if it does, charge or replace battery.

Volvo starting issue

Sounds like dirty battery terminals, make sure they are shiny clean. if ok see if the motor can be turned by hand , a clicking sound often points to the following dirty terminals, flat battery, stuck starter motor.

My 2006 volvo s40 won't start and the key (remote) does not work. Had to use regular key to open the door. alarm still on and car won't start.

I had the same problem when my battery went flat and tried to use jumper cables connected to another vehicles battery. I called Volvo and they said I need to disconnect the battery terminal to reset the computer. After re-conecting it the remote control worked again and I was able to jump start the car. Maybe your car's computer went into a similar state.

My volvo s40 fails to start i went out in it this morning and went back to it and turned the key, an engine relay clicks every half a second and the lights on the dash extinguish as if its going to start...

try jumping it first. If it will jump, you probably have a battery or alternator issue. Both can be tested to determine which is bad. If it does not jump, the troubleshooting steps are different.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

I have just bought my 8th Volvo, I love the car and it drives like a dream as usual but on buying the 2001 S40 I bought a sat nav, not realising charging it would be a problem with no 12 V Socket in the...

Just buy a cigarette lighter socket and install it yourself.
Supply it from the vehicle +12V accessory power; don't forget to also connect 0V (ground) to the socket metal frame.
Accessory power is normaly used on the vehicle to power heater fans, radios etc.

2005 Volvo S40 won't start

Check battery voltage while trying to start car.  May need new battery.  Since you just bought the car the battery may be weak from sitting at a car lot for a while.
