Search 'books' for Peugeot 405 (you will find the Haynes Manual). Make sure you choose the right one for your Year & type (Petrol/Diesel) = the wiring diagrams are in the back. Cost is about £20.

there is a screw that holds the drum on the hub but if you are missing them , it is not essential as the wheel when fitted holds the drums in place
the dealer will know what screws are used or go to the junkyard /wreckers and get some

A warning light came on and went straight off on my Peugeot 405 N reg, I didn't have time to see what it was showing but half an hour later I got a screeching noise from my left side rear wheel, over...

Yes it can affect one side, if drums it could be the wheel cylinder but if discs then it could be a trapped stone or lever / cable fault.
If it is related to the light on the dash that light would have been Red not Orange. I would not worry about the light at this stage as it has now gone out.

I have a pug 406 2l hdi i have had a problem with the breaks

That sounds like a bad brake rotor or drum. If the brake rotor or drum is thick in one spot and normal on the rest that will cause the pedal to pulsate every time the the rotor or drum reaches that part of its rotation. The solution to this problem is to remove the front and rear rotors or drums and take them to a machine shop so they can be smoothed out, bear in mind you may need to replace them if the thick spot is too great.
