How to remove a starter motor on a 96' pontiac

Jack up your car and make sure you have jackstands or something safe to support the car while it's in the air, look under the car on your sarter you'll have 2 bolts on the starter take the loose and your starter should come down. Take your positve and negative wires off of the starter and replace it the same way you took it off make before you start working on it that your cables are disconnected from your battery.

1996 pontiac bonneville wont start has no headlights but does have interior lights. had starter tested was told it was fine. battery is also fine. makes a clunk when i try to start it then nothing. have...

see if you can turn the motor with a ratchet or breaker bar and socket, if you cannot turn it relatively easy you may have a locked up engine, if you can turn it then replace the starter anyway, bench testing is not an accurate way of telling what a component will do when installed in the vehicle. the louder the "clunk" the higher the likelyhood of the locked up motor

1996 pontiac bonneville wont start and headlights wont work

If you don`t have any lights on in the instrument panel then try getting a jump start. If it starts then have your battery and charging system checked. If you do have lights in the I.P.then make sure your getting power to the starter.Good luck.
