2002 Toyota Camry what kind of automatic transmission fluid does this car take

Check tranny fluid level. If at correct point new oil or adding will not correct anomaly. Need tranny pro to resolve issue.

If you need to add a little standard auto transmission fluid will do the trick. Nothing special.

What kind of oil to use

Use of 5W-30 or 10W-30 are both acceptable for the I4 (2.4L) and the V6 (3.1L) models. It should indicate "5W-30" on the oil filler cap.

Hello, I know it is stnage but I have never changed my own oil and I would like some help finding the oil plug

Doesn't sound strange to me! I have been in this business for 36+ years and have trouble finding oil plugs and filters on some of the cars!

I could send you some information and possibly even some pictures, but you forgot to mention what type of car you have and which engine it is equipped with. YEAR,MAKE,MODEL, ENGINE SIZE . This information is also needed by your parts supplier so they can get you the correct oil and oil filter.

Unfortunately, I cannot post any pictures on this page once I have posted this "solution". For some reason, FixYa does not provide for adding pictures to a "comment". If you would like to post an email address, I can send you the information. I would recommend using an email address you do not use much, because posting it online can get you all kinds of trash (SPAM) in your inbox.

I took my car to a mechanic because the low oil light was on. He added oil and 7hrs later when I started the car it was knocking. If he added to much oil and the engine was cold that was why it was...

If he is any kind of mechanic he will know that adding too much oil can bust a gasket because of the pressure. If it was not knocking before take it back to him and tell him about the new problem after you left his place.

Tapping noise sometimes

Just add oil, or better yet get an oil change, your oil is obviously low, antifreeze is not a fix all.

Hidrolic suspension

You need a special service tool to perform this task, and there are many pages in the manual to accompolish the adding of fluid. This is not something that one can undertake without the service manual, special precautions, and the special filler tool.... If the oil is not leaking, and no parts have been replaced, do not try to adjust the oil level. You are dealing with very high pressures in this system, you could get hurt. This is the best advice I can give you.

Oil pump

Hi CR LeJeune-

It sounds like the oil return passages in the cylinder head are partially blocked and trapping oil in the top of the engine (inside the valve cover(s).

I would recommend an oil & filter change, but substitute one quart of Rislone oil treatment for one of the oil quarts. I also recommend Castrol GTX oil; it is the best oil out there as far as forming sludge deposits, which is probably what is blocking your oil return passages.

I would not run the engine for an extended time with the Rislone... no more than 150 miles. This is because the Rislone will break down all the sludge deposits, and ALL KINDS of TRASH / DEPOSITS will be circulating with the oil, stuff that could cause severe engine damage!!!

So if this change gets oil back circulating like it is supposed to, do another oil / filter change, but without the Rislone, and this problem will be solved. BUT if the blockage is so bad that the Rislone does not clear it, you need to remove the valve cover(s) and manually unclog the oil return passages... a job better left for a qualified technician if you are not comfortable tearing into an engine.

CR, I believe this will fix your problem, give it a try and let us know how it goes.... AND PLEASE be so kind as to rate my assistance --- your approval is my ONLY compensation for providing this service.

Thanks!
