Question about Seat Cars & Trucks

I loaned our children's car seat to my son, who let her put her used gum in the cup a few times. Now I can't get this gooey mess out of the cup. Do you have an easy solution?

Some people have had success with filling the cup with crushed ice, (maybe a couple of times), then the gum will get cold and stiff and might come out with a screwdriver.
God bless your efforts.

a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Mechanic (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I would like to know were I can make a complaint for my daughter who is a single working mother of 2 small children. She bought a Holden Captiva with a loan for $14,000, 8 months later she had to

Sounds like a real problem. Most used cars only come with a 3 month warranty on drive trains. If she didn't have a mechanic check it out before she bought it , unfortunately there isn't too much she can do. I would think that the seller would try in good faith to do something. Best thing to do is file a complaint with the division of consumer affairs in the jurisdiction where she purchased the car. Keep all documentation .

How do I disable front passenger airbag if I need to use a child seat?

on some cars there is a switch that you can turn the system off for the passenger side. however children should be put in the rear seat until old enough to not require a child seat.

Last week my son was pulling seat belt way to fast to buckle up and got pissed off and started pulling even harder now the seat belt will not come out at all, is there a way to unlock it? I've tried the...

you will need to work it pull light out lightly to try to free it up, keep pulling lightly and quickly otherwise you will need to replace it, they dont reccommend opening due to it may fail in a crash, ive had a few it takes time but will free up sometimes this sounds like your son jammed the internal gear with the lock arm.try using a screw driver to roll the roller in and then pull and see if it releases, hope this helps .

Power loss & Fouling Plugs on an 75' IH Scout

Sounds like you are on the right track, except that the vacuum advance won't give you the radical symptoms you have. I'd take the carb apart and clean it out. likely the power valve is gummed up and could also be the needle & seat are worn. Make sure you find a good rebuild kit before taking it apart though...the gaskets are likely dried out & will break.
After all this time it's possible that your float maybe sinking. I've seen this happen before. If you have one of those litle generic fuel pumps likely it cant make more than 5psi on it's best day, so I don't think it will blow the needle off the seat.
Yes...change your oil & plugs after youv'e finished and don't drive it with fuel in the oil.

Back seat doors do not open

It seems that the brackets inside the door panel may need to be cleaned and regreased. find the screws that keep the door panel in place and pop the panel off (It will be held in place by some push in brackets and they will likely be brittle) I would just lubricate them and work the mechanism a few minutes with the door panel off until it opens properly.

2004 Jeep Cherokee Laredo Power Seat Lent Jeep to my son, next morning went to go to work, and noticed the power seat is rocking back and forth. The power button will slightly move back and forth but will...

Rocking tells me that something in the mechanism is broken. failure to move with switch could mean that either what broke or something else has jammed the track. If you are good at this kind of thing, remove seat (4 bolts & unplug harness) and flip it over if you can't see anything installed.
It could have broken because it was ready to break but that's why I don't loan my stuff to anyone! (when something breaks then it's my fault) If parts turn out to be really expensive, you can likely find a working seat in a junkyard for pretty cheap.
good luck with it...hope its something small & easy!

Ford Focus 2006 model airbag deactivation

Children in car seats should never be put in the front seat.  In fact children under the age of 13 should never be in the front seat.  Their bodies are not large enough or strong enough to sustain the impact of a crash or an airbag.  For your baby's safety and your peace of mind it'd be best for you to keep your baby in the rear seat and get a mirror for the back seat to see what's going on.
