I have just replaced the headgasket on a 4270 Massey Ferguson. When I started UP there is white smoke and the engine runs uneven. The sumpoil is pushing out the radiator coolant. What can be the problem?

Hi GERALD STARBUCK, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? How did it run before the head gasket was replaced? It could be that you did not get the block and head clean enough so the head gasket could seal. A piece of the old gasket could be keeping it from sealing. It sounds like compression from the combustion chamber is entering the cooling system through the water jacket. Let me know how it goes.

Hi.The head was sceemed and pressure tested. The block was properly cleaned. The sump oil is pumped into the the radiator in 2 minutes.[12 litres] Can it be the oil cooler on the side of the engine although I cant found a problem there? What is the correct torque on the headbolts?

FORD FOCUS LOSING COOLANT SUDDENLY

Check for white smoke out the exhaust. If you have white smoke then you are burning coolant and probably have a blown headgasket. Another way for checking a blown headgasket is to open the coolant overflow tank and run the car. If you see constant bubbles in the coolant then you have a blown headgasket.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR IF the gasket it blown as the engine will overheat and the cylinder head can warp/crack.

If there is no white smoke from the exhaust and no bubbles in the coolant system there is probably jsut a leak in the coolant system, visually check all the pipes and check around the waterpump housing for leaks. If you can't see a leak then pressure test the coolant system. A pressure test will push coolant out the leak and should help you find where it is.

Hope this helps

2005 Toyota Camry 115k miles has white smoke coming from engine. What could this be and around how much to repair it.

White smoke usually indicates coolant is getting into the combustion chamber, meaning that it most likely has a blown headgasket, or gaskets, if it's a V-6. The cost varies depending on your location, who does the repair, whether it's a V-6 or 4 cylinder. Ball park figure for a 4cylinder headgasket replacement would run somewhere between $800-$1200 ad an additional
$500 if it's a V-6.

I have a 1998 hyundai excel running rough as if only on 2 or 3 cylinders starts 1st time but running realy bad and blows heaps of white smoke I can drive it and you can feel it not running on all cylinders...

Is the heaps of white smoke come out of the tail pipe LONG AFTER the 15 minutes period?
To pin point a blowing headgasket you will need
1)coolant system compression tester
or
2)chemical reaction test for combustion test gas
If it's the org. engine from 1998,with over 120,000 then blown headgasket is a good possiblity.
Tow it to the shop and let the pro to do the coolant pressure test and combustion gas test.
A full head gasket job with head re-surface (if it can be re-use) is worth it.
Shop around on well estiblished independent shops.

White smoke, uneven idling and no power!

You are going to have to Get that Engine Rebuilt. Once you get water inside through the Tailpipe and So on The only thing that you can do is Rebuild. The BAD news is, You will also have other Problems Pop up later on like the Computer, Brakes, Transmission, ETC..........
