Sounds like two different problems - the brake light switch and the speed sensor in the transmission.

Look under the dash by the parking brake and try to see if any wires are being moved or chafed by the parking brake linkages. That is what I have found in the past.

Chevrolet Equinox Brake Light Flashing

If it is an amber light that says " anti lock" You will be safe, you just wont have anti lock brakes. The car may have traction controll. If so, look in the manual to be sure what light is on. As a general rule amber lights are warnings and red lights means stop. If the light stays on you will have to go to the dealer to have the code read.

My brake lights wont turn on, plz help!!!

join the club...can you shift your car into drive while its on? or do you have to start it in neutral like me? while thats more of a pain in the rear than a real issue...its not having brakes that is an issue! this is a problem that has been fixed time and time again and no dealership wants to do it. my brother (thank god) can fix it for me but its such a pain...hopefully someone can tell us both wtf is going on with ours cars...i swear if its not one thing with this stupid car, its another...ahhhh
