SOURCE: overdrive light started flashing

the OD light is flashing to let u know a fault has occurred in the transmission electronic controls or that it is slipping plus other issues, go to Kragen or Autozone and ask them to run a trouble code test, it is free, post the code back here for me to look at.

SOURCE: my overdrive

the OD light flashing indicates that the transmission control module has observed a fault. Take the car to a local aftermarket parts place and get the codes pulled (typically free) this will send you in the right direction regarding a repair.

SOURCE: 2007 ford e350 van, reverse lights wont work

On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced

Overdrive light on end of shift lever is flashing steadily wihile driving, only on backroads so far....owners manual says to have it serviced...change fluid or what?? 2003 e350 5.4l 12 passenger.

There is an electrical problem with the transmission. Stuck actuator or something. Get it checked, might be a $200-300 fix, that would cause a transmission failure down the road. It might even be the overdrive switch on the shifter.

Overdrive light on my 99 f150 never comes on...replaced switch already...could it be the harness?

If the over drive is located on the shift lever on the column it should be on with no light. The only way the light comes on is if you turn it off. Over drive button is located on the end of the shift lever. Drive it down the road and count how many times it shifts it should only shift 4 times. Start 1, 2, 3, 4OD with light off and 3 times with light on.

97 FORD F250 OVERDRIVE SWITCH LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON & OFF. EVEN WHEN SITTING IDLE IN THE DRIVE WAY IT WILL GO ON FOR ABOUT HALF MINUTE, THEN WILL GO OFF. WHEN ROAD TESTED IT WILL GO ON ABOUT 30 SECONDS...

My 1995 ford f150 doing it, i believe, either because of a loose plug on the transmission and/or vaccum leak, but very annoying. I dont think the transmission itself is bad because when the overdrive is not flashing it works perfect. going to have the electrical plugs and vaccum hoses looked at. The container in the engine that holds gas vapor may have something to do with the conditions that control this particular models transmission response, I.E. "kick down".

If your overdrive light is flashing and the transmission is not shifting properly, you most likely have diagnostic codes stored in the tranmission control module. These codes relate to a specific sensor/solenoid/actuator and can help in diagnosing your problem. You will need a scan tool to read these codes. You should also check your transmission fluid level to see if it is at recommended level (engine at normal operating temp). The fluid should be red in color, if it is very dark or brown/black in color and has a burnt smell to it, your transmission has internal damage and will need to overhauled.
A qualified transmission shop (Aamco, Lee Miles, Gibralter, etc.) would be your best bet.

Hope this helps.
