SOURCE: Rear differential driveshaft seal leak.

Hello, you need to remove driveshaft to be able to get to the nut.Remove the nut (MAY BE VERY TIGHT) and pull the yoke or flange as you called it out & you can pop old seal out & new seal in.You may want to smear a tiny bit of grease or vasoline on outside of seal for easier installation & also on the rubber part of seal so itwon't get damaged when you re-install the yoke.Hope this helps.

SOURCE: need instruction manual/schematics for replacing 2005 kia rio driver side rear wheel bearing. i've got the wheel/hub/bearing off, not the inside ring to the bearing. i need to know how to replace it .

clean all the grease if there is any out of the hub, turn the hub over and using a drift and hammer strike the shell from the back edge working around the shell as you go, should not take too much to remove it but you will need a bit more than a tap with the hammer.
Hope this has helped you

SOURCE: mid ship bearing on driveshaft needs replacing.

Not unless you bend the tube. You will have to disassemble at least one U-joint--keep track of how it came apart and all of the little needle bearings in the cups on the end of the cross--keep everything clean. Fresh grease will help keep things together when putting it all back.

I have an intermittant grinding on the front of my 2000 Kia when I go over bumps. the wheel bearings were already replaced because of this, but the grinding continues.

It seems as though you have changed everything.

A grinding noise is associated with something turning or rubbing against something. The only other thing that springs to mind are the drive shafts, which have splined ends. The link below will show you generic images of driveshafts
kia drive joints Google Search

Each end of the drive shaft is splined. One end fits into the gearbox and the other end attaches to the road hub of the road wheel.

It's usually the hub (universal joint that allows the wheel to turn)/ wheel end of the drive shaft that wears. It may be that the grinding noise has been more pronounced when turning? And the grinding noise is coming from just one side?

A new drive shaft isn't cheap although second hand ones are readily available. replacing a driveshaft isn't a particularly difficult job.

However, it may be an idea to get somebody to remove the brake calliper/rotor/ driveshaft hub and inspect the hub/splined end of the drivehaft. What you're looking for is worn, broken or chipped splines. If all seems okay try cleaning and repacking with driveshaft grease. It's probably the hub - the bit that allows the wheel to turn - as opposed to the splines -there's bearings inside that hub (also known as a universal joint). There's no real way of examining that hub other than replacing the driveshaft

How to replace a front axle on a 2002 freelander landrover

1. Remove hub centre disc and remove hub nut with wheel on ground.

2. Jack up affected side (not under lower control arm), remove wheel.

3. Remove two caliper bracket bolts and tie caliper up out of the way.

4. Disconnect outer steering joint.

5. Remove two strut-to-hub bolts and pivot hub outwards to release driveshaft outer drive flange.

6. Place oil catch can under car and carefully pry out inner driveshaft joint and remove driveshaft.

7. Reverse steps with new driveshaft. Remember to replace any lost gearbox / transfer box oil.

The bolts connecting the driveshaft to the gearbox can it be fixed without replacing the gearbox? and how can i do this?

jack up car, remove wheels, ball joint, cv joint so the driveshaft hangs free. jack up engine a small bit then remove engine mount and lingage, lower the sub frame a small bit for room them let the engine down slowly, this will give you enough space to remove the bolt from the box. it a good bit of work so take your time and be safe.

Oil leak from driveshaft n/s

not sure if you can interchange the manual & aut shafts, but you should check to see if there is excessive play where the shaft enters the gear box if so the diff bearings my be worn, if there is no play or noises from gear box when driving, remove the shaft again an try the seal on the shaft to check it's a proper fit, before fitting seals it is a good idea to leave them soaking in oil for a few hours prior to fitting

hope this helps
