What would cause the power windows and power locks to respond slowly, as well as the gauge lights to be dim on a 2000 Ford Explorer?

2000 Ford Explorer battery gauge staying low, replaced the battery with a new one. No noise form belt or alternator. Belt might have a very little more play in it. Lights aren't dimming, turn...

Hey Vick, make sure your battery cables are in good shape,,especially the connections.. if you see ANY corrosion anywhere on either cable - replace it!!
If you are game.. disconnect the alternator and while it is running reconnect it - ONLY IF YOU CAN DO IT SAFELY!!.. sometimes this gives it a "kick" and helps..

try dimming the dash light off and see if that will change anything if it does then it's likely the switch

Fuel gauge not working on my 1988 ford f159

It is most likely the sending unit in the fuel tank,but,check it first,if you unplug the connector to the fuel tank,the gauge should go past full.If you use a test light,and ground the clip on the end of the test light to a good,known,ground,and touch the right wire,it will light up dim(test light)and the gauge will pull down slow,to ,past the empty mark on the gauge,if it does this,the sending unit is bad,if it does not respond to any of this testing,then the gauge,or a connection to the gauge is bad.

2000 LeSabre BCM Suspect

The first thing the dealer would do is diagnostic's . Would not guess and just replace the BCM . Hooking up the factory Tech 2 scan tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , input data to the BCM etc.
(I have reason to believe the BCM in my 2000 LeSabre is bad ???? )you have no clue ! The BCM has nothing to do with gauges , insturment cluster ! Beside's you still would need to take it to the dealer because it would need to be programmed .
Leave this to a qualified repair shop . Plus the dash doesn't need to be taken apart to replace the BCM . Your vehicle actually has three modules for the body control system .
The body control system consists of 3 modules:
• The dash integration module (DIM)
• The instrument panel module (IPM)
• The rear integration module (RIM)
You have no idea what your messing with . Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop ,and that doesn't always mean you need to take it to the dealer .
Each of the 3 body control modules integrate a number of functional systems under the control of a single module. Each of the modules is connected to the Class 2 serial data line. Many control signals are implemented by Class 2 messages.
Important: The air bag indicator light may remain ON after the DIM module is replaced, and during the programming procedure for the DIM, until after the procedure is completed and the ignition key is cycled OFF and ON .
• Before replacement, record the personalization settings to transfer to the new module (if they are available).
• After replacement of the DIM, perform the following procedure.
• In order to reprogram the DIM, perform the following procedure.
Using a scan tool, preform the New VIN Procedure.
Perform the Setup SDM Serial Number in DIM Procedure.
Using the scan tool, set the Point of Sale in the DIM module to the correct country.
Using the scan tool, configure the RPO option configuration.
Perform the vehicle personalization in order to reset the owner's desired personalization settings. Refer to Instrument Cluster, Gauges and Console.
Plus power door locks and windows are controlled by door module system , not body control system .The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door. The driver door module (DDM) is the master control for the door lock system but the rear integration module (RIM) contains the program that determines when the lock functions are permitted.
Mess with the wrong stuff an you will render your vehicle useless
cost to much to fix.

you have a short in one of your window motors,probably the drivers door
any time something fails to respond to a request for power Do not hold the switch on it you can cause damage by heating up your wires.

Power winidows, wipers, dome lights not working on 1998 explorer

This could be a combination of electrical issues, although i feel that the timing is coincidence in this case. When the combination is elec. windows, wipers, and dome lights this is indicative of the GEM module located behind your radio. The GEM (generic electronic module) is an electronic body control module that regulates electrical flow through a number of accessories.

These factory module boards are notorious for acting quirky by failing to ground intermittently until failing completely. I would be cautious in replacing ignition switches, locks, etc. as the issue can be also compounded by corrosion of the main battery ground wire in the engine compartment and which can cause frying of your under dash wiring into the main wiring harness which can get expensive (i speak from experience having had the exact same syptoms). My issues were that these symptoms occurred only in full ON. When in key BACK ACC mode, they disappeared.

New price for one of these modules is around $280-$300 and easily replaced.
