Do you have an electric cooling fan at the radiator?
Is it coming on when your temp gauge reaches at least 3/4?
It should run anytime your gauge reaches 3/4 and possibly before that.

You changed the spark plugs twice since 2006?

Every three years-- I do mine

Ignition Coils won't last 8 years, not all of them

You have to look at scan tool data & road test

Can not use a car for years & never work on it

Your dealing with time in years & heat cycles

Nothing at all to do with mileage

Usually 100,000 miles you change oxygen sensors

Yours are 9 years old,so they go based on time & again
scope them, for switching times & look at the data

Don't change your oil 3 times a year, you have engine wear

Could be any number of things causing your cars issues

Buick idle at 1700 dies when putting it in reverse

Manifoild air leak causing engine to idle too fast. Check for air hose leaks. Some are palstic mated with rubber hose sections. Both can crack and leak.

If engine stalls when stopped at light, torque converter may not be unlocking.

Idle good when cold, hotter it gets the worst it idles especially when sitting at stop lights

simple test for a vacuum brake booster
star and run the engine at idle without applying the foot brake
if it gets worse when the foot brake is applied , it is a vacuum leak in the booster ( replace the booster )
otherwise check for failed vacuum hoses including under dash control lines , vacuum leak at the manifold or EGR unit

When I turn on the heat this winter i found that I lose my heat when i stop at a light or running in idle. The heat works the best when i have the control on low fan, but it takes for ever to heat up. ...

When you hit your gas, the volume increases in your radiatior and the hot water circulates. When you are low on antifreeze or coolant, it doesn't circulate during idle. Check your coolant levels and make sure the thermostat is opening when the engine heats up. Do this by running the engine with the radiator cap off. When it heats to 190 degrees, you should see the level drop, start to steam and start to move. Don't forget to rate me high please.

Hi, I got two problems first is when the car idles or stops and stop lights for a period of time the car starts to over heat but when your going down the highway or just any street as long as the car is...

here are a few things to check, coolant level low, drivebelt defective, radiator could be blocked, faulty thermostat, electric cooling fans not working which makes the engine overheat, when going a certain speed it is air cooled, but when you stop it will overheat.

Idles low when ac/heat is on and lights dim

fix the idle speed to 850-900 rpm
check the alternator and voltage regulator as the voltage should read 14.5-14.8 volts dc at 1000rpm or higher regardless of what is running
have it bench tested by an accredited auto electrician

Engine idles higher at stop light

It has a problem with the idle quality..when you use the heater with the a/c compressor it will raise the idle and get the fuel it needs to run...look for vacuum leaks.....hissing sucking sounds
