Start with the basics. Check the fuses (all of them) with a test light and be sure you have power to each and that they are good. Then be sure that the power lock relay is good by swapping it with another relay in the fuse block. If the fuses are good and the relay is swapped and the locks still aren't functioning, you may have an issue with the BCM. The BCM can be programmed to change the behavior, but if the car has had water damage, or other stress to the BCM (voltage, heat, etc.), it can sometimes damage the BCM and you will need to replace it and reprogram it at a GM dealership.

When i open the dr of my 2006 chevy cobalt the alarm goes off i have never used the clicker or has it ever done this before

On some models you set the theft system when you lock the doors and when you manually use the key to open the door the alarms will go off. To solve this use the key fob and see if you still have the problem. I don't think you will see the problem when you use the key fob to open the doors.

How to get passenger door open on 2006 chevy cobalt with seat belt stuck in door?

This is going to sound a little odd, but properly jack the car and then try opening this door. Put the jack in the recommended jacking spot on the passenger side.

Imagine that the back and front ends of the car are compressing the center of the car. By lifting one end or the other, the center may shift. Otherwise you do not have a frame, but the engine cradle may have a support located closer to the center of the vehicle. Do not jack the sheet metal, but you may catch the cradle and apply lift there.

You may notice by putting in a piece of cardboard in the doorjam on whether there is an increasing gap as you jack the car.

I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt that I bought used. Didn't have the remote for the door locks. I can unlock all of the doors from the driver's side, however I can't lock them. Any suggestions?

check the lock side of the switch, its not connecting, remove the switch and test it, if the doors will unlock its letting you know the plungers are working, and that to lock its not getting any power to reverse the action, ( check the individual doors, if they work both ways,, then its the drivers door switch that's faulty

2006 Chevy cobalt The passenger door will not open no matter what I do. I was trying to unlock it and a guy was trying to open at the same time ..now it will not open at all???

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like the linkage inside the door fell off and is not operateing the lock release. Bring the car to a repair shop that fixes Glass, Locks they should be able to open the door with a special tool then remove the inside panel to check all the linkages.

Chevy cobalt--leak from the sun roof dripping on the floor board on drivers side.is it easy to replace.also the drivers door locks and it cant be opened unless you keep locking and unlocking with the...

The Sunroof has DRAIN TUBES that get CLOGGED and Cause it to LEAK this WAY With the Roof OPEN you Should be able to SEE the DRAINS at the Front or Rear of the SIDE tracks, A Blast of AIR will UNCLOG Them One on EACH SIDE in LOW Spots

As For the DOORS UNLOCKING They Need LUBED from Time to Time and You May Even Need to Remove the Inside Pannels at liest PARTIALY to Gain Access to the Parts that NEED LUBE. I Recomend PB BLASTER Spray Lubercant for FReeing Up your Locking Mechenizms
