2002 mahindra 6000 steering wheel turns infintly in both direction but no wheel movement weather tractor is on or off. Fluid reservoir is full.

Either the pump is not working or the control valves are not working
have a service technician come out to diagnose the fault

Does dodge pu use any pressure control valve for power steering control


There is a pressure relief valve to prevent the pump locking up and destroying itself. You will hear it working when you hold the steering hard on full lock. Otherwise the fluid is recycled back to the reservoir through the valves until you turn the wheel and that upsets the valves which close off until the wheel movement stops and no fluid is let in or released until the wheel is again moved.

1992 lexis car replaced thepowersteering pump now it won't turn at all


bleed power steering with engine off pour power steering fluid in the power steering reservoir until fluid stay at full mark on powersteering pump dip stick.wait few minutes then check powersteering fluid again if low add little more when fluid level stop dropping crank vechicle turn steering left to right with out a stop turn steering wheel all the way to the left to all way to right for minute until air bubbles leave the powersteering fluid. when steering wheel feel normal stop engine check check power steering fluid should be at full hot mark if fluid level dont drop air is out the system. dont overfill powersteering reservoir if so you will blow front seal.dont drive vechicle if steering dont feel normal have vechicle towed in garage.

Steering is noisy at slow speeds when turning


This car is essentailly the same as the Lincoln LS & T-Bird.

ISSUE: Some 2003-2005 Thunderbird, Aviator, and Lincoln LS vehicles may exhibit steering gear squeak when turning the steering wheel, especially during low speed parking maneuvers. The noise may sound like it is coming from the steering column area and may be felt as a roughness in the steering wheel, while turning.
ACTION: Refer to the following Service Procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE NOTE: USE ONLY THE FLUID AND ADDITIVE SPECIFIED IN THIS ARTICLE. USING ANY OTHER FLUIDS OR ADDITIVES MAY RESULT IN SEAL DETERIORATION AND LEAKS.
  1. Open the hood and remove the power steering reservoir cap.
  2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 100-00.
  3. With engine off, drain power steering fluid by disconnecting steering lines and clamp plate from steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Removal and Installation procedure in Workshop Manual, Section 211-00, follow only the steps required to disconnect the steering lines.
  4. Turn steering wheel lock-to-lock to drain fluid completely.
  5. Reconnect steering lines and clamp plate to steering gear. Torque retainer to 15 N-m (11 lb-ft) for Lincoln LS and Thunderbird, torque to 25 N-m (18 lb-ft) for Aviator.
  6. Lower vehicle.
  7. In a clean container mix 50 ml (10 teaspoons or 1.7 oz.) of Motorcraft Additive Friction Modifier, Part Number XL-3, with 50 ml of Motorcraft MERCON® Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid, Part Number XT-2-QDX. NOTE: DO NOT PERFORM STEPS 8 AND 9 ON A HOT VEHICLE.
  8. Pour the above mixture into the power steering reservoir.
  9. Top off (fill) the power steering system with Motorcraft MERCON® Multi-Purpose Automatic Transmission Fluid, Part Number XT-2-QDX and reinstall the power steering reservoir cap.
  10. Raise vehicle on hoist enough so the front wheels are off the ground and can be turned from lock-to-lock.
  11. Start the engine and keep it at idle. Remain inside of the vehicle.
  12. Slowly cycle the steering wheel from lock-to-lock for two (2) minutes.
  13. Quickly and forcefully turn the steering wheel in one direction to full lock (either side). Bounce the steering wheel on/off of full lock twenty (20) times forcefully. NOTE: IT IS CRITICAL THAT THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED QUICKLY AND FORCEFULLY IN ORDER TO CREATE A PRESSURE SPIKE IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM.
  14. Repeat Step 13 in the other direction. Return the steering wheel to on center position.
  15. Slowly turn steering wheel to full lock in one direction (either direction) to achieve maximum pump pressure. Hold at full lock for one (1) second, then turn the steering wheel back 90 degrees as quickly as possible. Repeat this procedure twenty (20) times. NOTE: DO NOT HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL AGAINST THE STOPS FOR MORE THAN THREE TO FIVE (3-5) SECONDS AT A TIME. DAMAGE TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP MAY OCCUR.
  16. Repeat Step 15 in the other direction.
  17. Cycle the steering wheel slowly for 1 minute to confirm that the squeak is corrected and return vehicle to the customer. NOTE: IF THE SQUEAK CONTINUES, REPEAT STEPS 13-16 ONE ADDITIONAL TIME. IF THE SQUEAK IS STILL NOT CORRECTED PROCEED TO STEP 18.
  18. If the squeak is still present after performing Step 17, replace the steering gear. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 211-00 for removal and installation procedures.

How do I change power steering resevoir


it should be the same as a 2003.there are 2x3/8"(10mm)bolts that hold it to the motor.disconnect the lines to the reservoir and remove install new reservoir in reverse order fill with power steering fluid run car and turn wheels from lock to lock several times,return wheels to straight ahead position check level after the foaming stops repeat if necessary until level is full and no more foaming of fluid.you may notice a noise or intermitant jerking of the steering wheel this is just more air being worked out of the system and will subside.

The power steering isn't working. The reservoir was empty and I added power steering fluid and it still very hard to steer

My power stering is not working ok i have replace the power stering pump and i have check the sector and it is ok the car work well when it is runing but when i stop it turn hard i have check if it is air...


Power Steering Fluid Filling & Bleeding
  1. Repair the power steering system.
  2. Turn the engine OFF.
  3. Raise the vehicle so the front wheels are off the ground.
  4. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left.
  5. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir to the FULL/COLD level and leave the cap off.
  6. Have an assistant watch the fluid in the reservoir while you turn the steering wheel fully to the right and fully to the left at least 20 times. NOTE: On systems with long return lines or fluid coolers, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock at least 40 times.
  7. Add fluid as needed to keep the fluid level at the FULL/COLD level.
  8. Install the reservoir cap and start the engine.
  9. Center the front wheels and lower the vehicle.
  10. Run the engine for about 2 minutes.
  11. Turn the steering wheel in both directions and verify correct power steering operation.

Power steering fluid


Checking the power steering fluid level at least once a month is a good idea, since as components in the high pressure system wear out, the possibility of leaks increases. Always stay alert for changes in steering wheel operation. If you suddenly find it hard to turn the wheel, check the steering fluid immediately.
Steps:
Step 1:Apply the parking brake and place the transmission in "Park" (automatic) or "Neutral" (manual).
Step 2:Check the level of the steering fluid in the reservoir. If your car is equipped with a see-through plastic tank, compare the level with the markings on the side the container. Other systems are equipped with a dipstick inside a plastic tube, or have a dipstick mounted on the reservoir cap.
Step 3:Pull the dipstick or remove the reservoir cap, and wipe the dipstick with a clean shop rag. Insert the dipstick or replace the cap and remove it again to check the fluid level.
Step 4:
Make sure the level is within the crosshatched area on the dipstick or at the "Full" mark. If necessary, add steering fluid.
Step 5:
Place a small funnel or a funnel with a flexible hose on the dipstick tube or reservoir opening to add fluid.

this is simply a fluid issue try draining steering fluid and replacing it make sure to start car after top up and turn steering full lock a few times in each direction and top up to max as required done

2003 expedition replaced p/s pump and steering rack. it is still hard to initiate a turn in either direction regardless of speed


raise the truck up and turn the wheels left to right, you most likely have air in the lines.

Range rover power steering


Get someone to help you with this. If you start the car with the reservoir half full and slowly turn the steering from left to right lock and back 4 or 5 times it should expel all the air from the system.
Get you helper to add fluid to the reservoir as needed during this process to keep it at least half full.
Top up to correct level when all air is out.
