4 recalls so far. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2003/jaguar/s_type/recalls/index.html

unhook the battery for about 15 minutes, that will reset the computer. if you have an anti-theft radio. make sure you know the code first.

SOURCE: Why doesn't the eletronic parking brake work?

the common problems with that car with the park brake are, if the battery goes low the module looses its memory for the parkbrake travel and needs reseting as . the rear brake caliper sliders siezing so the park brake module gets a excessive travel signal from the motor feedback potentiometer. check that. also the wiring to the parkbrake motor rubs on the rear subframe and shorts out to ground. the park brake motors are also unreliable, you need to check for trouble codes in the parkbrake module if this info does not help. all the best.

I parked my car and after 30 minutes it rolled and caused damages. My problem is the car was taken to the dealer to replace all four brake pads and handbrake adjusment 2weeks ago.whos fault is this

Hey Phathi. Sorry to here about your drama. I have a similar problem . I will spare you the details. What i was advised to to is have your car assessed by two registered clutch , brake and shock service shops. They will be able to give you a report of what went wrong. If it states that the dealer was at fault ( activate your mobile phone voice recorder) you will have to go to the dealer and submitted your findings and also your claims. They will either submit and hand the matter over to there insurance company or tell you to f of . If that happens you thank them politely and go directly to the state prosecutors office . I hope this helps my friend. I know how it feels to have this stress on top of stress already. At the end of the day ... trust me the people involved are not thinking about you or what they would have felt like being in this situation. They do not care and i would /have the same mindset. Hope i could help.

I just bought a 2010 buick enclave cxl and on slight incline in drive will roll back. ? Its like the rpms arent where they should be. I don't think the weight should pull it back so much. Thanks

The parking brake is the way to stop it rolling back. Idle RPM are set and have no bearing on how the car rolls back. apart from if you increase the revs, the car will move. The proper procedure on an incline is to apply the parking brake, put the vehicle into drive, increase the revs and take off the parking brake. Just like we did in the old days when we had manual gearboxes :>)

Expedition rolls while in park

possibly you need to reajust yr parking brake liver, u can do that manualy by cable, or some cars it is self adjustble if you just sit in yr car and work yr parking brake liver up and down consistanly 4 abt 2 to 3 min. also you mite want to check the rear pads but the one that are on the inside of the disks(they are 4 yr parking brakes), which are not seen unless you take the tire off the car to inspect it properly.Hope that helps. G/luck.

When I start the car, I can't put the car in shift mode. Unless I am on a slight incline and put my emergency brake on to roll. What is the problem and how much will it cost me to fix?

Can't shift out of park because I've parked on a slight hill and my car has backed up slightly jaming the parking pawl in the automatic transmission after I have shifted into park but before I have set the parking brake. This is a complaint that Ford owners have had for years. Try this proceedure to see if this solves you problem and best of all it's Free. 1st when you park develop the habit of; while still having the foot brake down apply the park brake firmly first and then shift into park and then release the foot brake. Remember it is important to apply park brake with enough force to prevent the vehicle from rolling. What happens is in the rear of an automatic transmission there is a coarse gear that has a lever that engages this larger gear and when you shift into park range this lever goes into one of the spaces in the larger gear and stops the car from rolling. If the car starts to roll it can Jam the lever against the gear and make it difficult to shift out of park. By using the procedure I've outlined it prevents the lever OR Pawl from being jambed into the larger park gear. Try to make this a habit and you shouldn't have anymore problems.

Parking Brake Fault light is coming on? I reset the battery and it keeps coming on. It starts with the "apply parking brake" light and then when you take off, it goes to a parking brake fault? Please...

This is a common fault often caused by low battery voltage, before you start taking expensive actions with the park brake modules etc get your battery checked for 100% efficiency.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Gear shift stuck i n park, what do i do?

Hi,
Try releasing your parking brake and having someone push or rock your car. Sometimes the gearbox gets stuck in Park if the car moves after you put the car in Park and let the car roll a bit before applying the handbrake. It could also be a fault with the gearbox itself.
Its also possible that the locking tab mechanism (that gets relesed when you press the button on your auto gear shift) has jammed. If you can get it out of Park do not put the car back into Park ,but rather put it in Neutral after you have finished driving around etc and use the hand brake when parking. At least you wont be stuck in Park until you get it to the repair shop. Note that your car can roll in Neutral, especially if your parking brakes are worn, so take extra care when parking ie point your wheels toward the kerb when parking on any hills or slopes.
Any time your gearbox gets stuck its a fair bet that you need to get your gearbox inspected by an authorized repairer.
Good luck,
Steve (Melbourne, Australia)
