Question about 2000 Nissan Xterra

2 Answers

Same exact problem as Robb on Jul 14th but none of his responses answered his question: The A/C in my 2000 Xterra just stopped blowing cold over a period of about a week. One week it was fine. After about 7-10 days, it was just blowing hot air. Some switch in it keeps clicking on and off and the fan blows and the compressor seems to kick on and off. I thought it was out of Freon, so I had someone recharge the system. no good. I hear a lot about some thermal switch or module (or something like it) located behind the glove box. I have heard (from very many) that it solves the problem. Can someone tell me if I will know what I am looking for when I see it? Or what exactly to look for once the glove box is out? And, if someone has the actual name of the part with part number, that would be great too. Thanks a lot. Emily

Never try to put freon into your vehicle with guages. You will overfill and possibly ruin your compressor and a/c lines. The freon has to go someplace and its usually out your seal or on a weak spot of compressor or line. The autoparts can self charge with no knowledge but instructions on can it not safe.

2000 NISSAN 4X4 P/U A/C SYSTEM WILL BLOW COLD WHEN OUTSIDE AIR TEMP IS COOL, WHEN HOT OUTSIDE AIR BLOWS HOT.

your auxillary fan is not working. this fan is responsible for cooling the freon that is being circulated in your cooling system... check if there are any loose wires in front of the engine bay.

the auxillary fan is located right beside your radiator fan.

A Chiltons/Hanes repair manual for this Xterra will have the A/C schematics you need. When you replaced those parts did you re-charge the system? You may have a refrigerant leak.

2003 ford escape will not go pass 2ooo rpms and will not idle

Greetings:

My 2002 3.0 V6 Escape is doing EXACTLY the same thing.

In neutral, it wont rev past 2000 and sounds very throaty like its starving.

Last year I had to replace all three cats and an EGR valve. If its the cats again, I am junking the car.

What is so magic about the 2,000 RPM point? It makes me think that it is something electronic.

I have seen this exact same issue on several posts with no responses. If anybody has an idea PLEASE post it.

Thanks,

Robb
