Peugot 407 goes into gear but won.t move

need more information. does it feel like it wants to move or it does not want to do anything. is it a standard or automatic. all this is important. and automatic I would say check the trany fluid. if its a clutch. you could have a bad part. if it feels like it wants to go but wont. is the brakes on. does it make any bad noises when you give it gas. like something is grinding or slipping. all this information could help.

The battery seems to be dead but it does respond promptly to the jump start. However when it drives the van can only move at 5-10mph

You say the battery seems dead

I suggest that you test it,you should also
know if it is at least 5 years old & would expect it to go dead

That said, those things you need to know before you
ever attempt to jump a battery

If it isn't capable of taking a charge, then your
basically creating an unsafe act & bad things
could happen to that battery & you

If the battery is dead & the vehicle is running
on the alternator, then the electronics won't work
& you go 10 mph or not at all or worst.

The lack of power could be any number of things
Work on the battery issues, then continue on

How to remove gas tank from 1991 chevy 1500 4x4 how to remove the straps

It is easier to take the bed loose and pick up the bed. there is 8 bolts and the gas filler neck too take loose.first you open up the gas door, and around the gas cap there will be 3 7mm screws then under the truck the 15mm bolts are on top half of the frame.these bolts are spaced from front to rear on bo th sides of the bed.then look at the rear of the truck, behind the bumper. you will find a plug that goes to the taillamps. unplug that connector .4 or 5 guys move can pick that bed up and just move it backwards, over the tires.if you dont have the manpower then take a big floor jack and position a 4x4 about 1/ 1/2 ft long. stand the 4x4on the jack saddle, and jack up the bed.pay close attention to the gas filler neck and other things, while going up. just go slow, up and down. you will need someone to watch the filler neck when you go back down

Shift lever won't go to park and moves stiff even while pushing on metal lever on the side of the transmission

The first thing i would do is to disconnect the cable at the lever on the ******, next move the lever at the ****** by hand and it should move by hand with little force. if the lever is hard to move then you may have a trany shift rod problem. next with cable removed try to go through the gears with the shifter , the shifter should flow with ease if its hard to move then its the shifter cable or the shifter itself. to find out which one you will need to disconnect cable at sifter and then move the shifter to see if its still tight. if the shifter is tight to move with cable removed then its the shifter but if it moves with ease then you have a bad cable. good day.
