Soo... My 1993 Mercury Villager has a high idle.. what causes this and how can I fix it at home?

It has a Data Link Adapter. Right side of steering wheel. It is not a traditional OBD Port.

Did you remove the battery or did it go flat. Reset security and immobilizer. Does the battery have 12.2 volts.

usually it is a vacuum leak which is letting more air into the engine. With engine running, use a spray water bottle and mist around all vacuum lines, the power brake booster and engine seams. Then try any vacuum line to the transmission. Could also be a burst vacuum shift diaphram if so equipped.
