I would change the coolant temp sensor first as it's cheap and it fails.
It's the sensor beside the thermostat,and it's the temp sensor for the computer,not the temp senor for the gauge on the dash.Also sometimes the idle air control can get slow to move on a cold start and just cracking the throttle just a little with the gas pedal helps start a cold engine with a slow idle air control.
