There are 2 little metal retainers that hold it in place..if they fell out you will need a new plug. Don't think they are sold separately.

Most have a set screw on the side to hold the base.

I would try hooking the trailer up to another vehicle and see if everything works right if everything works on the trailer I would start testing the trailer plug on your truck could be a wire has broken.

How do I install brake controler on 2015 chevy colorado

most aftermarket electric controllers have 4 leads, a hot 12volt, ground, a wire that goes to the trailer brakes, and another wire tied into the brake lights. There should be instructions included with your controller. I put one on my 96 dodge ram 2500 4x4.

Brake Light wont go out

The brake lights stay on even when the vehicle has been restored to the "before" condition?!? Now that's strange. I'm assuming the brake lights worked properly before you did anything with the trailer hookup. Is that correct? Do the brake lights work OK when a trailer is hooked up to the trailer lighting harness? Regardless, if the brake lights stay on all the time, there is a continuous 12V to the bulbs to ground. You have a wiring short somewhere in the vehicle. Have you checked the wiring for bare spots (caused by rubbing) or cuts in the wires.

Since the brake lights won't turn off, you have created a continuous path of 12V through the bulbs to ground, regardless of the brake switch operation. If you did not use the plug in type of wiring harness to attach the "trailer plug", then I would systematically undo each wire that you attached to and see what fixes the problem. I assume you know that the Blazer has a trailer connection plug-in location tucked up under the rear bumper. You simply unplug the mating harnesses, plug in the trailer wiring connector, plug in the disconnected harnesses and wha-la you should be good to go.

Hope helps.

I have a 6 p0le from the truck to a 7 pole on the camper how do i wire it so the backup lights work? its a 91 camper special

usually the trailer plug isnt wired for backup lights,i guess you will have to wire it manually,check the color of your wire to the backup lights of your truck,locate that wire underneath the back bumper and splice a wire to it to hook to your plug to the trailer.make sure the reverse wire from your trailer matches up with the terminal at your truck

Wiring problems

Hi Charlie

Six wire plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Left turn/Brake -LT
Green = Right turn Brake -RT
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - TM
Red or Black (not both) = Battery, aux power - A
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Ground should be 10ga.
Others 14 ga

Best regards
Mike
