Replace battery

The battery hold-down is a plastic block at the base of the battery. If you look on the side of the battery opposite where the cables connect, you will see a really long bolt sticking up with an 8mm hex head. (SEE PICTURE BELOW) That is your hold-down bolt. It is designed so that when you unscrew the bolt from the battery tray, you simply lift up on the bolt and it will pull the plastic block up with it.

When reinstalling the battery, make sure you slide the battery base under the lip in the battery tray opposite where the hold-dow goes, then install the hold-down.

Wanted to know if 2004 chevy malibu classic has a battery hold down?

Hi

Glad to read your post, but I'm quite sure that every car out there that comes from the manufacturer has and must have a battery hold down to secure it, without the hold down the battery would just move around loosely, and could cause a fire or an electrical short. Nowadays most vehicle inspection stations will not pass your car without the battery hold down. So before you take ownership of a vehicle make sure the hold-down is in place.

My drivers door sticks when the window is up...won't open or close properly....due to the window.....The window used to click down a fraction before closing...but, now it doesn't....how can this be fixed.

These cars have a learn procedure for these windows. First get in the car run window all the way down making sure to hold the switch down not to let auto down take place. Hold this till window is all the way down keep holding down for at least 3 more seconds then hold hold the up till it stops and hold for three more seconds, this will teach the computer the full down and up stops. repeat for other side. Anytime you take out the battery or it goes dead you have to do this for the windows.

Set clock

Turn on the keys to 'Acc'. If your Legacy has a CD player, press down and hold on the 'disp' button for one seconds; if not, omit this step.
Push down and hold the 'disp' and 'H' buttons; this helps you to adjust the hour entry. The hours will be incremented by one hour; leave the button when the desired hour entry is set.
Push down and hold the 'disp' and 'M' buttons to adjust the minute entry. Hold down till the desired minutes entry is set and release it.
Turn off the keys to save the set time.

I have to replace car battery (side mount) for saturn ls sedan .. how do i remove existing battery..nothing appears obvious ie. straps, bolts, etc...

Yes, the black box in front of the battery is in the way at first. It seemed like I needed to really force the box, but it slides up off the metal bracket that holds it. Once you get that off the bolt that holds the battery hold down is right there. I used large pliars, but I'm sure a socket set would be easier.

Seemed needlessly complicated. Cars with the over the battery bracket are much easier...
