It is located at the back of the engine near the fire wall. It is gray with a T connector at the top with two hoses coming off of the T and going forward into the intake manifold.

You will need to add a transfer case to the transmission, then swop out the front hubs/carriers with 4 wheel drive units, add a front differential to the mix and after about $5000-$10000 you're set to go. You up for it?
Easier, especially if you're mechanically challenged, Sell your 2 wheel drive and buy a 4x4. It works out cheaper. Even a 2x4 with diff lockers will be much better and will cost you far less than the conversion.

misfires can also be from low fuel pressure and faulty injectors
Ford coil packs are regular failure points along with HT leads but do not ignore the injector for that cylinder
