Should be done by a repeatable repair shop due to the fact that if a malfunction should occur they can be held responsible. Inadvertent air bag deployment could occur. Safety systems like that are best left to the experts.
I don't know where the knock sensor is exactly on this engine, but if you buy the replacement first it will help you identify it.
It's screwed into the block near the head or the head itself. It has an electrical connector attached to it (two wires, I believe).
The replacement is pretty simple: remove the electrical connector from the old one; screw it out with a wrench; screw the new one in and; plug the connector onto it.
These knock sensors are hard to get into. If thats a V6 it is underneath the intake manifold. make sure you cover the intake port when you take it apart, so a screw or a bolt don't accidentally drops in there.
Disconnect the battery for about 30 mins and after jump your battery abd try to start . don't forget to enter the radio code who is located at passenger compartment
