Got a weird starting problem with my Citroen berlingo van

I work in Glasgow and live in Gateshead and travel home week ends. after a run home switch off engine then try to start again and just get click click. Ok go in the house have a shower cup of tea say go back to van after say an hour and starts straight up,just do short runs over week end and no problems. drive back to glasgow switch off try to start and click, click.go in my digs shower etc. go out say after an hour and starts no problem.travel short journey all week from digs to work place and no problems drive back at week end and same crack again have changed battery at the start of problem but this did nothing and ive run like this for weeks as i know it will start after standing for a while dont want to spend unnecessary money changing starter as its fit

Sound like it's starter motor at fault. With you saying it's after a long run there will be a lot of heat in the engine/gearbox this could be causing the starter to stick, like you say after half hour or more it's OK and short journeys you have no problem.

    Best bet is to just change the starter as even bench testing won't show a fault as not hot enough.

The Citroen Berlingo is produced by the PSA Peugeot Citroen alliance since 1996. So in 1986 it would be C15, not Berlingo.

It can be oil rings. It can be valve seals or it can be you fuel mixture. Sounds like worn rings.

you dont need a tool mate just finger and thumb pressure
i have have been working on peugeots for 12 years and never needed to use one of them tools
