Question about 2007 Volvo XC90 V8 AWD Sport
Hello - Looking for your help. I have a Volvo XC90 2007. Replaced a new alternator due to overcharge problem. After replacing the alternator, now the following issues came up including, Low beam headlights are not working; child safety faulty (unable to unlock the door), 5th door/hatchback cannot be open/unlock and gas cap cannot be unlock. Any idea what would had caused this issue? What is the best approach to resolve all of these problems?

Sounds like a wire to me. It's definitely not fuses (unless the fuses have been split for left and right hand side which I have never come across, but we are talking about volvo lol) so I'd say most likely there'd be a break somewhere in the harness. The driver's side probably blew as all the power gets sent to one side when one bulb isn't working - so it's working twice as hard usually - making it more susceptable to blowing.

The most common cause of intermittent problems is a poor ground connection.Check the engine and the chassis grounds for tightness and clean surfaces.

Use a pair of water pump pliers to force the gas cap off. It will destroy it so get a new gas cap first
