SOURCE: Volvo Penta Marine engine 5.0 GXI 2004

There are two causes to trip off the breaker, overload current and a short circuited. Overload current causes to overload is that you have big load equivalent more than the limit load of breaker ampere. Like for example you have the limit of 50A load and you loaded 60A equivalent,it will trip off automatically the breaker cause by overload. The solution of always tripping of breaker is to replaced the breaker with higher amperage.Like for example 50A before change it with higher amperage 60A ,it must be proportionaly to the load equivalent. The other one causes is short circuit. Check for short circuit like bridging foriegn metals to the other parts,or faulty wirings causes to short.This problem is easy to solve,just take all the load of the breaker and reset the breaker.Like for example unplug or unhook all the loads . The engine motor ,the lights ,the control panel board,the TVs, the radio and whatever the load you have .To solve put it back or hook it back the loads one by one, to see whatever the load caused to short circuited and trip off the breaker..I will follow the calculation load equivalent.

Hope this may help you;

If this engine is a VORTEC then you may have a problem with the internal fuel system. Under the top plenum there is a fuel reg and poppet valves that inject fuel into the cylinders. Sometimes the tubes that run fuel from the reg to the valves can leak and cause your problem. This cannot be found with pressure check because this occurrs after the reg. PS fuel mileage will go down. Let me know if this helps.Moe

Hey Rob!
I can almost guarantee you that your problem is the infamous fuel pump relay. Open the hood and remove the fuse box cover (4 torx screws) to gain access to the relays. One of the relays is probably a green one marked 103. If so it needs to be replaced with a red, improved version. If it's not the relay the problem is probably the pump itself. Here's a link to some useful info on the relay and fuel pump: http://www.volvo-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=15505&st=80&p=80586&#entry80586

You should also check for spark when the problem is present. No spark could indicate faulty coil, camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor. Checking a plug for spark is easy: Unscrew the plug and hold it to ground with a pair of insulated pliers or something similar while the problem is present. Have someone crank the engine while you look for spark. Should the engine start while lacking one plug it will sound horrible, but will not be harmed as long as you don't run it too long and don't rev it.

Good luck!

NEED ADJUST SET IGNITION TIMING.MOST TIME YOU INSTALL ANOTHER NEW ENGINE.THE IGNITION TIMING AT DISTRIBUTOR OFF TIME LITTLE TOO FAR ADVANCE CAUSING WEAK SPARKS FOULING OUT SPARK PLUGS. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE SOON AS ENGINE STOP AGAIN DONT TURN ON IGNITION SWITCH CHECK FUEL PRESSURE.SHOULD BE 43 PSI. IF NOT 0 FUEL PUMP BAD OR FUEL PUMP RELAY FAULTY OR FUEL FILTER STOPPED UP.IF FUEL SYSTEM GOOD PROBLEM IN THE IGNITION TIMING.

How do you change spark plug wires on a 96 Buick Century 4 cyl. the moter sits sydwase.

start at each plug located on the cyclinder head...be sure to do ONE at a time...so you do not affect the firing order...remove the wire from the plug first and trace to the coil connection...measure length using the new wires to match one by one...also be sure when re-installing that you use some of the connector lubricant to properly seal and service the fresh connections...this lubricant is inexpensive and usually recommended by your Parts Store staff...

95 jeep grand charokee laredo hard to start,

Check your spark plug, wires, distributor cap and finger. If you spark plugs older than 15000ml, replace them. To check your spark plug wires, use a tester (U can buy at any auto store) you hold direct on the wire and a small sparkling will show you if the wire works or not. You can check the wires also with this: use a single spark plug (don't remove one out your engine!), remove the wire from first SP, connect it with the single SP, hold it to ground, let someone start your engine...you need to see regular sparks.. do this step by step with all 6 wires. If all wires are fine, check the SP's, If you miss on one wire, replace the wire, if you miss on more than one, chekc the distributor cap and finger. If this items are older than 20000ml or 5 years, replace them.

S90 won't start if not driven daily and AC doesn't work uphill

First check the wire harness connecting to the spark plugs ignition coils f/b connections to the fuel injectors and then to the ignition circuit unit and lastly to the gearbox. Check yr all the groundings in the engine bay. If necessary install new grounding wires. As for the air conditioner, check the 2 smal valves in the hood at the firewall, if ok, then it may be one or two of the 4 bellows under the dash has given way. Also check the temperature sensor at the dash (top) front passenger side and the sensor pressure valve (connected to the evaporator piping) underneath the carriage at the front.
