My 12hp rideon engine rover turns over but does not start in the switch seems like it making a gaining nose

2004 RangeRiver HSE ??? Range rover hse Your vehicle does not have a fuel cut off switch . A relay controlled by the engine control module is what turns it on . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. One that has the proper diagnostic skills an tools .

There is a procedure for emergency EPB release, which is worth a try to make it go temporarily;
Turn off engine.

Select P if auto, apply foot brake.
Push and hold EPB switch/lever down.
Turn ignition on, wait for system check to cycle.
Start engine.
Release EPB switch/lever.
The EPB should have now released

Your Land Rover is no doubt fuel injected.maybe cold start injector. injects gasoline when starting in the cold, carburated vehicles used to have a choke to enrich air/fuel ratio when starting in cold.

Sounds like the ingnition switch or cylinder lock. Was the truck stolen?

If they removed the ignition switch off the back of the cylinder lock then that may be your problem, that may be the reason why you do not get the spring action at the end turn of the key. look at the rear of cylinder lock and see if switch is removed.The other problem may be the cylinder lock may be broken, remove the cylinder lock and see if the arm that turns the switch is broken.that would also cause the problem you are having,

Check for power at the starter from the solenoid when the key is in the start position.. if you have power there it is the starter .. if not you probably have a safety switch malfunction . You can bypass them for testing purposes.

It is possible that this Range Rover is misfiring and needs a change of sparkplugs if it is screatching it is trying to start but cannot due to misfiring. If the plugs are good check the gapping on each pluf.

tune up, fuel filter, air filter, dirty throttle body, put good one to gas fuel injector cleaner.

hi mate i think the other chap is talking about the fuel cut off switch which is behind the center console have you lost fuel or spark i think you have a 2.0 petrol engine i would look at dizzy cap and arm then check valve timing has not jumped cheers furry

wrong timing, readjust the distributer.
