I have a 2000 sable been in the family since New I start it with starting fluid it runs until parked then won’t start again then repeat process what do you think is wrong

Next time you try to start it, turn the key to RUN (not start)for 2-secs. Then turn to OFF. Repeat 3 times. Then try starting. If it fires right up, that's a sign of a leaking check valve in the fuel pump. Turning the key to RUN 3 times triggers the fuel pump to go into "prime" mode to rebuild fuel rail pressure. When fuel pressure is back up to spec, it fires right up.

Hello Paul... Sorry about the

I've had a couple of GR8 Jags...
(still got the last V12 convertible they ever made '95)....

Never knew they had a check valve (but it makes sense).

I'd first be looking at the pump motor itself
(they do get gummed up... simple cleaning sometimes... )
((white vinegar & soft bristles))

After that I have the FACTORY MANUALS...

Also used Captain-Jaguar's "cat house" (Tulsa)
(eBay seller... previously Established business new &
used parts) and HAD some really great on-line forums ...
(I think he got tired (guess... like me twice re-TIRED)).

I found thru Captain Jag's (great resource... ASK...
He used to love Jags:

1996 doge caravan delphi pump. Well i direct feed the pump and no presure out of the new filter. I really think the pump is defective. This will be the third time changing it. All new pumps. In the morning...

If the pump is not making a noise, check your electrical connections on the pump.
If the pump does make the normal sound to prime the system, you can check to see if the fuel lines are clogged before the filter. (This sounds similar to the step you are performing.)
There is a relay that supplies power to the pump. It can usually be interchanged with another relay on the engine bay fuse panel (in most cars that I have owned). That could be the issue.

Just put a used new engine in. new used fuel pump. everything was great until it gave me starting problems. first it didnt want to turn over. started turning the igg. on and off for the fuel pump to...

I think you had the same problem that my aunt had with her Cavalier. The fuel pump
failed. Grandfather installed an aftermarket fuel pump and it worked fine. I hope this
is the solution. (As a side note, I think you were losing prime through the pump).

Engine wont start without priming with gas first, then runs well

i have the same problem on a 98 jimmy 4.3 4x4.
i replaced the fule pump and have good pressure.
new wiers & coil (good spark) no MIL & no codes.
will only start when primed. it will run & drive all day
with no problems.
but once it has been turned off (warm or cold) i will
have to prime it once again to start it.
i have another engine that was in it before it spun a bearing.
it ran fine so i know all parts are good.
i swaped the mass air flow and throttle body but i still have
to prime it everytime to start it. am i forgetting something?
should i swap out the intake with the injectors?
any help would be sweet. thanks.

2004 nissan titan...ran out of gas

Good chance that even on 4 gallons it may not start I would try for more, prime the fuel pump several times by turning the key on and leaving it on for around 5 seconds then shutting it off and repeating, obviously not trying to start. I've had cases where even small FWD cars won't start even on 4 gallons on a 12 gallon tank. The newer fuel pumps are a closed system that only allow a small portion of fuel into the pump housing to keep contamination down. Let me know if after adding a few more gallons it won't start we will trouble shoot from there. Thank you for using
