It is under warranty, so take it to the dealer. Are you sure the check engine light is working? It should come on when key is turned on then go off, it is called "prove out".

You need to have the engine control module scanned for fault codes, I will bet you have a check engine light on and maybe blinking.

Whatever they are reprogramming is not working properly. Insist that they replace the unit since it is not functioning properly.

I have a 1988 Ford Econoline 150 and every time i accelerate it hesitates shifting into first gear and slightly jerks, does it need a flush? Or do the belts need tightened? Someone mentioned they could be...

Huh? Doesn't it start out from a stop in first gear? Flush what, what belts?

When you press the gas pedal all the way down, does the engine speed up quite a bit, or stay at a very low RPM?

Does the engine miss? When did you last do a tune up? How many miles on the van? How does it run once you have reached high speeds? Any other symptoms?

Not much information for us to go on.

i have similar problem with my 1999 b4 twin turbo auto. it happened after changing the knock sensor. other than this jerking the car gains power after and runs very well. but the jerking is annoying. No warning signs in my car dash though it burns well3f396f6a-4d54-4351-9bfa-47d0ca43b218.jpg
