When you are use correct fuse - pump after turn on ignition key consumed more amps that have fuse - there is possibility to pump is "Like short circuit" or pump is dead.I am afraid, that you must replace pump with new one.

2001 ford explorer sport keeps blow fuel pump fuses

The most common cause of this is that the fuel pump is drawing to much current due to wear and a possible burned fuel tank connector at the tank. To replace the pump you must raise the truck up and remove the fuel tank. Also replace the fuel filter which is on the inside of the frame on the drivers side. Use a rag to cover the fuel line when disconnecting it with the required special tool.

Instructions for replacing fuel pump in a 2001 ford Escort ZX2

Remove the rear seat, remove the 4 screws holding the metal cover, and you'll see the top of the fuel tank. The pump module is held in place by a locking ring that can be removed by use of a brass punch and hammer. If the ring is rusted, it'll get damaged during removal and will need replaced. You can get a new ring from Ford. Once the ring is removed, you can pull the pump module out. Remove the small screws from the top of the module and you can pull the top off of the basket to gain access to the fuel pump. Replace the pump and get new fuel pump strainers.

Intermittent fuel pump engagement when turning key - 2001 Taurus

try cleaning the connector that goes to the fuel pump, sometimes they corrode on inside. If that does not fix, test the wires feeding fuel pump with a multi meter until the condition shows itself again, if voltage drops to zero or very low then wiring problem, if voltage is unchanged with problem and fuel pump is not working and connectors are all clean, try replacement of fuel pump.

I have had the fuse to the fuel pump blow so i replaced the pump and it still does it . so i unpluged the pump and the fuse still blowes

The problem is not the pump but in the wiring. The sensor is connected in series type(remember in school -- series and parallel) and thus is being fed higher current and/or voltage from the battery. Its the wiring which is clamped together. Examine by tracing both leads to the battery. Its insulation must have melted and come in contact with another wire which caries higher current. The fuel pump gets activated the moment you turn the ignition key 2 notches, i.e., the dashboard lights starts glowing and thus turns on the electric circuit in which the pump(fuel) is an essential gadget. So check the wiring thouroughly including the ignition key terminals.........................sodeep

Fuel pump on my 94 escort 1.8L wont come on when key is turned, but works when direct wired. Ive replaced the relay, inertia switch is not tripped, I only have one hot lead with the key on at the harness...

Assuming the fuel pump is ok it could well be the fuse box itself that is faulty. Ford always had problems with these. Make sure the one you get has exactly the same part numbers on it as this is most important.
